Josephine Touray is injured and Pytlick didn’t think Mie Augustesen was good enough for the Danish squad at the moment (I think) at least she was left out this time.

I dont think that is the case with Augustesen. it would completely go against all that Pytlick has stated the last 4-5 months. I think she is sure of the spot due to her good performances in the autumn, and now Pytlick wants to figure out whether to take Mikkelsen or Aaen to Macedonia.

One thing is for sure. With her good performances this autumn it would be plain stupidity if she did not at least get a fair chance at M-Cup. So the ony plausible explanation I can come up with is this one. But then again, Pytlick is not always that plausible.
Where do I find a Danish version of Andryushina?
Pytlick please choose the talents 88/89

Levina is not nt material.

Like i said after the olympics this is a year of transition for russian handball but now with Postnova and Bliznova injuried things looks more harder.......don't know if a top four in the euro is possible even with the good draw thy had.

Levina not NT-material  I disagree. Strongly.

And why on earth should Denmark(and Norway for that matter) be able to beat Russia with +15 goals? Of course the Russians are very weakened, but they still have many decent players on the team and a handfull of very strong ones - Turey, Dmitrieva, Davydenko, Levina, Suslina, Vetkova. I will be disappointed if Denmark doesn´t beat them though. I will agree with you on that one ;)

Anyways, my main focus of the tournament will be to see, if Lotte Grigel really is ready to play at this level. She has been praised so much here in Denmark, but only because of one single good match from her - she still has a lot to prove. I mean, the girl is 17 and 163 cm tall.. Then I am interested in seeing whether Dalby will be more efficient. IMO she makes too many technical mistakes and has a low shooting proficiency. I´m still pissed that Line Jørgensen is injured cause she has some of the same qualities as Dalby, but unlike her, she doesn´t have any weaknesses. She plays very safe with fewer mistakes and she can defend. Very big prospect for the future!

Denmark - Russia 27-27 (13-13)

Denmark: Gitte Aaen 5, Rikke Skov 5, Henriette Mikkelsen 4, Camilla Dalby 3, Susan Thorsgaard 2, Majbritt Kviesgaard 2, Katrine Fruelund 2, Trine Troelsen 2, Louise Mortensen 1, Kristina Bille 1.

Russia: Irina Poltoratskaya 7, Ekaterina Davydenko 6, Alexandra Krannykh 4, Olga Levina 3, Emilia Turey 2, Victoria Zhilinskayte 2, Elena Dmitrieva 1, Oxana Koroleva 1, Maya Petrova 1.

2 min suspensions: Denmark 3, Russia 4.

Irina Poltoratskaya was awarded player of the match.

DHF writes that of the Danish players it was mostly the experienced who did well. The defence was the best part with Katrine Fruelund back in the middle defence to stop the big Russian players. But not a match that will go over in history for great play. http://dhf.dk/composite-3175.htm

For Denmark pivot Lene Lund Nielsen, playmaker Lærke Møller and right wing Louise Lyksborg didn't play. Lene has a minor injury and Lærke is ill (has a cold with headache).

Norway - Iceland 36-15 (18-5)

Norway: Linn-Kristin U. Riegelhuth 7, Marit Malm Frafjord 7, Linn Jørum Sulland 5, Kari Mette Johansen 4, Camilla Herrem 3, Tonje Larsen 3, Heidi Løke 2, Tonje Nøstvold 2, Kristine Lunde 1, Ragnhild Margrethe Aamodt 1, Tine Rustad Kristiansen 1.

Iceland: Augusta Edda Bjørnsdottir 4, Rakel Bragadottir 2, Sigurbjørg Johannsdottir 2, Hanna Stefansdottir 2, Iris Asta Petursdottir 2, Hrafnhildur Skuladottir 1, Dagny Skuladottir 1, Arna Sif Pålsdottir 1.

2 min. suspensions: Norway 3, Iceland 5.

This was NT match #500 for 33-year old Tonje Larsen, could have been much more by now if her knees were better. She had her NT debut 16 years ago, all the way back in 1992.

Norway-Russia 33-23

Not a bad result looking at the roster.

No ones cares about handball in Russia at high level,if they would care they would fired everyone at russia federation......female handball in Russia now is a big mess.

The handball team doesn't have the financial support or the organization that the basket or volley teams have.
Portugal is in the euro 2008,finaly!!!!!

Actually it was a disaster for Russia. They got 5 easy goals at the end, so it looked much better on the scoreboard, but seriously...our girls just looked to have some fun with them, and Russia was no match at all.

On an international scale handball is a small minority sport compared to both basketball and volleyball.
