Poland vs Denmark - Denmark is favourite for sure but you never know how Poland moods can turn it on their side...+5 Denmark anyway...

Spain vs Norway - +4 Norway...without any other comments

Hungary vs Romania - hungarians play at home but thats their problem .. close match but i think Romania will end it with a victory..i just put it on their last year performance .. both teams work so hard and the ammount of energy they put is like a marathon one.. Tadici always has surprises against Hungary...+3 Romania

Germany vs Montenegro - Germany so weak..+6 Montenegro

Sweden vs France - i remember France always knockdowns Sweden?..+5 France

Netherlands vs Slovakia - well...i think Slovakia will win..+3..

Poland vs Denmark
Spain vs Norway If Norway's defence is on the right level there will be no problem for them. It will be a tough match but i expect Norway to win +1 or +2.
Hungary vs Romania This will be an interesting match, that can go either way, Hungary has the support, but Romania can make some trouble here.
Germany vs Montenegro Hmmm. I bolded MNE only because i want them to win and they need to win, but i think this will be the hardest match in MR for MNE. Two reasons, first the great CLARA WOLTERING who knows MNE girls very well and if she starts to save as we are used to, she can be a big problem for montenegrin attack, the second reason are Germany's good back players, who shoot like crazy from 9m, and if we let them shoot like we did the french backs there is another trouble. But also this can be an advantage because GER back players are unstable, especially Nadgornaja who misses a lot.
Sweden vs France I was so impressed by them last night, and i really enjoyed watching them especially Niombla :) They will go to the semis for sure, and the final is closer than ever. I only hope that their last night game wasn't a one time thing.
Netherlands vs Slovakia To be honest NED did a great job in the group phase, but can they continue like that? They are favorites in this match, but Slovakia can either make a big trouble for them or completely fall apart like they did against Montenegro. I hope Slovakia can shake them a little :)

Germany vs Montenegro 22-24 Montenegro should win this one

Sweden vs France 23-27 I really like the French team and they can get a medal for sure.

Netherlands vs Slovakia 28-25 Oranje all the way. :)

13.12.2014 16:00 Poland vs Denmark - I expect a Danish win, although I hope for a Polish surprise.
13.12.2014 18:15 Spain vs Norway - in my opinion, Norway is the favourite to win the gold. Anyway, it will be a great match.
13.12.2014 20:30 Hungary vs Romania - :-k I hope we will win this, but I prefer not to gamble here. Anyway, go Romania!
14.12.2014 15:45 Germany vs Montenegro - easy win for the Montenegrins.
14.12.2014 18:00 Sweden vs France - I think France will prepare this game very careful.
14.12.2014 20:15 Netherlands vs Slovakia - Ok, my bets are on the Netherlands, but I will cross my fingers for Slovakia.

13.12.2014 16:00 Poland vs Denmark -Denmark is a very good team, make no mistake. Poland will not even be close. Now if Poland indeed proves me wrong, it will be a complete disaster for Danish handball...no Danes want to even think about that scenario...

13.12.2014 18:15 Spain vs Norway -Don't worry Danes, our girls will kick some Spanish ass and it will be a fun match to see :)

13.12.2014 20:30 Hungary vs Romania -I haven't a clue. Wide open to me.

14.12.2014 15:45 Germany vs Montenegro -Germany is not even close to Montenegro's fantastic team, and must just try to survive without getting injured players for the other matches to come :)

14.12.2014 18:00 Sweden vs France -Brain says France ofc, as I cannot see any team stopping them for taking gold this EC, but heart wants Sweden to shock the European handball world :)

14.12.2014 20:15 Netherlands vs Slovakia -I like Slovakia, the underdog of all underdogs. I hope they win, but it will be hard. Wide open?

When I read things like these i can't help remembering one of the most incredible upsets in female sport history when an almost amateur Spanish selection with no notable results left Norway out of Olympics Games in 2003 winning by 1 in the decissive match.

Hungary-Romania...? An EHF trademark joke. I've nothing against Hungary, but I hope Spain gets through and ruins EHF's financial plans a bit.

What a battle of the defenses against Romania!
I thought previously that this was going to be a match of Tomori vs Neagu but both played way under their usual level.
Unlike the superb Éva Kiss and Paula Ungureanu =D>
Congrats to our young gladiators Rea Mészáros and Gabi Tóth who did also a huge job to collect these vital points.
And thanks to Tadici who put Perianu on the bench when she was on fire ;)

They would need a magician to push us in the Top 4 :)
I don't think the Russains were a huge factor today. We had their "sympathy" but they did a lot of mistakes that were against us. (like Neagu escaping a red card, Elisei a 2min for a consecutive kick and head slap against Triscsuk, etc.)

I guess we should be very glad for a possibe Top 8 spot which could be very valuable in the rush for thy Olympic tickets, with this team we have. Should have been a diffferent story with Zácsik and Görbicz on board.

Pheeewww....What a match :)

Easily the most exciting and best game so far, as Spain was determined to rather die than give Norway a single point :)
We needed every single goal, as Spain broke through our defense again and again, totally unstoppable. We got some easy goals with Alstad shooting at an open goal, and a magnificent shot from our hidden diamond Betina Riegelhut scoring 16-16 almost from the middle of the court, and we totally needed them :)

Hehe, believe me, we have never forgotten about it, and Spain have haunted us ever after. Always a tense fight, but still we usually win against them. However, this year Spain have the best team ever, so no, we didn't exactly kick ass. It was en even match, and whatever dreams other teams have, I don't see them being able to beating Spain to move on. It was a fun match to see though, not totally wrong there :)

Thank u girls for one helluva show. You ROCK big time :)

Yes, it's hard not too. After the defeat the Norwegian team changed many things, maybe if Norway had won and qualified for the olympics we wouldn't have dominated so much the last ten year.

It all started with the loss to Ukraine, Breivik didn't start with Leganger or Tjugum in the goal as I recall and played her best team too late. The one goal loss would come back to haunt us, but Ukraine did one other thing also, they didn't even try to win against Hungary, they threw the match, I guess it isn't against the rules in the book, but it was a shitty thing to do.

Same thing happened vs Denmark.

Hungary send in an 18 year old kid, and she managed to do what the experienced players didn't do, score goals :)

What a drama, and what a nightmare for Romania that should have won this. To sum it up in a short version, it was a single shot at goal from Neagu that changed the match. Neagu hitting the bar instead, Hungary got a contra attack, yep the 18 year old, and she made a penalty plus a 2 min suspension for her actions, that basically send Hungary back into the game :)

The support was on Hungary's side, even the refs in the dying minutes, so no semi for Romania this EC. Good for the tournament though, and now Denmark, Spain and Hungary are fighting for the last spot to the Semi (Norway will take the other for sure). Well done Hungary :)

No way Norway will lose to this Hungary team in the last round in main round. Even if they are already through they are still professional enough to beat this Hungarian team easily. Hungary need even more help from the refs then. Denmark and Spain will fight for the last spot

Exactly what I was thinking.
Then I have some other questions that "haunt" me:
- why not Dedu against Denmark?
- why isn't any player able to defend on the right intermediary side (everyone who was there was destroyed in the matches against Denmark and Ukraine)?
- why not Ciuciulete until yesterday very late? (seriously, whoever cries about Bârsan from now on, just think about this: 1. she cannot turn, 2. she cannot move on the line 3. she has only one jump - wtf is that jump btw? -, 4. she has only 2 types of shots - hard, mid range, close to the goal and the lifted one -, and 5. she cannot defend)
- why not more of Zamfir, Perianu and Băbeanu to give some rest to poor Mica and Neagu?
- why do we wait so much to get the wings to run without the ball, against defenses which are so active on our backs? (I mean, what else does he expect them to do against such defenses?)

I give him the motivational factor, but he's so slow in his reactions (just like Voina) during match time.

All that being said, I am really worried about our final 15 minutes during matches. It's Poland - 2013 all over again and it's not bad luck.

Look at things like this: no rotation whatsoever is destroying your players, especially the back line, which is clear that is facing constant harassment from all defenders. You ask them to do attack and defense, how do you expect that they stay fresh until the end? In this case, any win is only by lack of force from the opponent (we had too big of difference for Ukraine to catch us) or by luck against equal teams (Hungary, Denmark and well... most of them).
Then you throw in a "cold" player (Băbeanu) for the final play and of course she'll be doing everything like a robot (that final cross pass to Neagu allowed the Hungarians to commit the extra foul they needed to run the clock down; a more reactive player would've seen the intention of the defender, charged the space left behind, provoked a 2 against 1 and a clear shot at goal).

If refs wanted to help us so much, they wouldn't have made mistakes favoring Romania also.
We are not able to beat Norway, everybody knows that.
I guess the 7-8 spot is good, 5-6 spot would be great from this team, unorganized, and missing Zácsik & Görbicz.
Top 4 is reachable 2 ways:
- Norway already group 1st, and giving rest for some players, especially Heidi Löke.
- we beat Denmark (possible, just look at their 1st half play against POL), and Romania + Denmark taking 3 or 4 points out of 4 from Spain.
I hope for the 2nd option.

I agree with you, mikh, 100%.
Also you can add, as Marco Aurelio said, that he put Perianu on the bench when the 9m worked to introduce Babeanu.
I don't understand Tadici's fixation to overuse Neagu and Bradeanu both in attack and defence all the time, when you can see that they are so tired. They both played 60 minutes per game, every two days. It's very clear that their fatigue will show.
And Ciuculete was indeed better than Chintoan.
