Braila - Bistrita 23-22 (11-15) !

If I understood well, Rapid Bucuresti and Slobozia are the newcomers in LN and... (more than) perhaps Slatina and Cluj will succed to remain in LN....

Last round today, with newly crowned champions losing at Bistrita in a match which they certainly wanted to win, but didn't seem to put the effort in doing so. Khouildi and da Silva were absent and the defence was... permissive... to put it nicely.
Bistrita really wanted it and Elisei was instrumental, playing in the back line, just like in the good old days. She was awesome!

So, a surprising podium in Romania, this season: Valcea, CSMB, Bistrita.
Valcea qualifies for the Champions League and CSMB will require a place in the Champions League.

Bistrita will go to the EHF Cup and will enter the last qualification round.
The other 2 teams going in the EHF Cup are Magura Cisnadie (I hope they will not forget to register altogether this year) and Brasov (who will make their eurocup return).
Craiova also declared they will require a wild card for the EHF Cup.

In the second division, Rapid Bucharest and Slobozia secured promotion today after only 1 year away from the NL.
The final 2 spots for next year's NL will be contested in the matches:
Slatina - loser Mioveni / Tg. Mures
Cluj - winner Mioveni / Tg. Mures

This is an interesting ideea but fair too. I congrat the mind whose promoting concept was ...seems to be too complicated but chance and competitivity is everywhere ( 4 levells).....diabolique mind ! :-k

Yes and... no. Here's why:

1. Teams from 2nd league were split into 4 divisions of 6-8 teams and they played 4 times against each other;
+ lots of matches for players to develop;
- too much spending for useless matches;
- the winners were way too much ahead of the 2nd placed teams, so there's obviously a gap between the teams that can promote and those who participate just to spend public money.

2. The semifinal tournament was an utter joke!
+ the premise is that if in a geographic area you have better teams than in the other, they should get a chance to prove it;
- the reality is that 2nd placed teams in each group are simply worse than 1st placed teams;
- the reality also showed that teams finishing 1st in the pool stage had no problems in qualifying at the final tournament, rendering the pompous semifinal tournament FACTUALLY USELESS;
- also... having 8 teams to battle for 2.5 spots in the NL is a bit over-stretched; once again, we're talking about clubs with weak finances and semi-pro players;

3. The final tournament was the only phase they needed. Just bring the winners (4 teams) from the regular season, make them play a round robin, the 2 best qualify for the NL. The 3rd can playoff against a NL team and that is that.

Do you know who are the winners of all this: the FRH, which keeps being controlled by the referees and the observers! Increasing the number of matches in the 2nd league and in the promotion phase allows them to cash in more money for refereeing and "observing". That's the FRH: zero transparency (we still have no reaction from AM about his sudden break of contract, which btw reflects poorly on him as a person and on FRH as an organisation which is not capable to enforce a contract), and power struggle between different groups of interest, none of them having handball as a purpose.

In the meantime, in the last 2 (apparently worthless matches) of the Final Promotion tournament:
Rapid - Slobozia 29:26 (10:15)
Mioveni - Tg. Mures 29:20

Ranking: 1. Rapid 6p, 2. Slobozia 4p, Mioveni 2p, Tg. Mures 0p

Rapid and Slobozia already promoted since yesterday.
Slight correction! There won't be any promotion play-offs, but another 4-way tournament, with Cluj, Slatina, Tg. Mures and Mioveni. It will probably be called Final Final Promotion Tournament :D
Hahaha, the FRH really making the players work to the last drop, just so they can pay more money to refs. It would be a huge surprise if Cluj and Slatina won't keep their places.

Your analyse is right MIKH,referring to reality...I spoke about , as principle system.
Of course,was not hard to say before this whole tournament that Slobozia and Rapid (ex-NL teams last year) and Slatina and Cluj will promote (defend) a place in LN. And then what to do ? Not give them a chance to compete ? (and theoretically win ?)

This system can develop a sort of emulation,a sort of bigger acces from second division. I want to believe this promote system was not allowed only to lift 2 southern teams to LN.

@mikh: this useless promotion/relegation tournament is in place since 2015-2016 but let's not forget the utterly idiotic play-out of 2014-2015, when the already exhausted players of 6 teams were forced to play 10 more rounds (!) just to decide the final rankings of the last 6-12 places of which absolutely no one was really interested in. While stated purpose of that extra tournament was "to increase visibility of the competition and to make the end of the season more spectacular", it is worth mentioning that none of the extra 30 games was broadcast. :lol:

LN just put an end today-afternoon.

ALINA CZECZI VATU is NL goalgetter. Like most of the last years all the 4 first places are long and great experienced players(Vatu,Senocico,Ada Moldovan,Tiplea) A mention to Sorina Tirca who "break" the "rule" as a young player and scored more then 100 goals.

The team of NL on my point of view :
GK Dumanska -Popescu ( Djukeva)
RW Radicevic - Costa
LW Vatu - Mehmedovic
CB Fraga - Lekic (Senocico)
RB Lazovic - Vasilevskaia(Rysankova)
LB Omoregie - Tirca (Khouildi)
PV Bacauanu -Ostase

@Silviu, forgot about that! You're absolutely right. The promotion relegation was done in a more direct fashion until recently. This year they just went crazy with: semifinal tournament for promotion, final tournament for promotion and really-I-promise-final tournament for promotion. We used to have only the last one until now and even that didn't serve anyone. Teams from NL usually lose this tournament when they're not supported anymore (see Deva).

@Doru: yes, the principle of this tournament is not bad. I agree with you. The only problem is that in practice, there's too much of a difference between one group of teams and the other, that it's simply not justified.

I am a strong advocate of a second division at national level (1 group) that could involve local communities better and allow clubs to pay young local players some decent salaries, such that they don't quit after finishing junior period. Make it of 10 teams and bring it to the level other handball nations have done it.

Then, create a 3rd league at regional level, where local public money can be spent, if you really can't do it otherwise. 95% of the teams in 2nd league don't even want to promote. So why not expand a bit the pyramid and create some real competition, give youngsters a chance to keep playing and maybe create some stronger local brands that could resist over time.
