I lost interest in ever organising a CL match after reading through all these demands and rules.

EHF receives 24 registrations for the DELO WOMEN’S EHF Champions League:

So Erd also requested an upgrade?

They probably filled out the wrong form. What Érd really want is a downgrade to the Challenge Cup. In this competition there is a higher chance to actually go through to the next round after you win your first game at home by 10 :P

In the Hungarian media or on their website there was nothing about it. Maybe this is just a try as they have nothing to lose.
On the other hand they really did not deserve the WC.
I mean the team strenght is absolutely perfect for a CL participation but they just do not act like a reliable team. They never even had a consistent season so far.

I would recommend the EHF to clarify and standardize the WC applciation requirements and adjust the WC tournaments to the number of valid applicants.
E.g. only those team can apply that reached at least an EHF-cup place on their own AND there are no other WC applicants that finished before that team in their championship.
If there will be 20 applications to 4 WC places, make 4*5 groups, if there would be only 5 applicants, do a single group and let only the last one to relegate to EHF,etc.

It does not make any sense. They have a very simple rule and they themselves broke it as soon as possible.
In conclusion, I declare that EHF must be destroyed

So I should rather be asking for consistency in keeping their rules?

Or in breaking them. For now they're only consistent in inconsistency.

Btw, 24 teams is the fewest number of registrants since (?) for some time. Usually it's been around 25-27... but this year the Austrian and Italian champions didn't apply at all.

Seems pretty clear who's gonna get the spots out of those eight teams.

The confirmation by the EHF EXEC is based on an evaluation of the registered clubs divided into eight different criteria (venue, TV, ranking in the domestic league, spectators, performance in past EHF club competitions, sponsoring potential, implementation of duties and regulations and media).

I still do not see. How many WCs are there?
If the provided numbers are correct they could grant it to all the applicants:
From the original 16+8 they could move the top 12 to the group phase so there would be left 4+8 teams for the remaining 4 places i.e. they could form simple 3 team groups for each WC place and all done.
Much-much more correct than giving away the places based on simpathy or advocacy skills.

But this is just one version. As there are 16 teams regeistered based on EHF ranking and also 16 places for the group stage by default there would be no place for WC. This means they need to tweak the system anyway to give chance for any WC teams so the potential range of teams that could participate could be any between 0 and 8.
I do not see it 'pretty clear' who is going to get it and why.

Which spots? :-k A golden ticket for the group stage, a place in a qualifying tournament, or nothing at all (apart from the EHF-Cup place) ?

It's not even sure who from the 16 gets a place in the CL. It seems very likely that at least 1-2 from those get rejected from taking part in any sort of CL tournament.

Why only 1 qualification spot? Why not just do like they did last season with 8 teams playing for 2 spots? :-k

And Brest still getting a wildcard over Odense after Odense beat them twice in the past season

Pot 3 is ridiculous..

And Brest getting a direct spot with a ridiculous team that couldn't beat Buducnost who played with bench players that get 5 minutes in total in CL..

And we can get and idiotic group again.. Just imagine Gyor, Krim, Savehof, Qualifier ](*,) ](*,)

It would've been better to have Odense, THC, Siofok... or at least to give them a chance in the qualification.. with of course more qualification groups...

EHF is very corrupt it seems... Nothing new, right?

Brest receives 3 times in row this wild card! Such a shame. [-( They played 16 games in EHF Champions League and only 2 were won, both against Savehof!

Odense, Siofok, Thuringer, Storhamar out lol...
Brest, Savehof, Lublin, Podravka and Krim in... Good luck!

A qualification tournament with Odense, Brest, Thuringer and Storhamar would have been much more fair!

they chose only Champions to play the qualification tournament:

Rocasa Gran Canaria (ESP)
ZORK Jagodina (SRB)
DHK Banik Most (CZE)
Kastamonu GSK (TUR)

THC in the qualification tournament is a joke just as big as Brest is for group stage. ;)

According with this order, the teams are seeded as follows:

Pot 1: Györi Audi ETO KC (HUN), Buducnost (MNE), Rostov-Don (RUS), Metz Handball (FRA)
Pot 2: Team Esbjerg (DEN), Vipers Kristiansand (NOR), SG BBM Bietigheim (GER), RK Krim Mercator (SLO)
Pot 3: IK Sävehof (SWE), MKS Perla Lublin (POL), HC Podravka Vegeta (CRO), SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea (ROU)
Pot 4: FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria (HUN), CSM București (ROU), Brest Bretagne Handball (FRA), Qualifier

Somebody to know why is Valcea the last seeded team among champions? :-k
If you'll say "because is a newbie in competition", then how you explain CSM was seeded in Pot 2 back in 2015?

-----------------------------------------
@swarthofole, you didn't get me.
I have nothing against "Champions Route" QT with Jagodina, Kastamonu, Gran Canaria and Banik Most.
But it would have been fair a "Non-Champions Route" QT with Brest, Odense, Thuringer and Siofok, that's all.
