2020/21 EHF Champions League

Postby Bo$ko » Tue May 05, 2020 1:55 pm

Image
NEW FORMAT
Women’s EHF Champions League (16 teams)

• Places 1 to 9: Nations ranked 1-9 (1 place per federation)
• Place 10: From European Handball League (place reserved for team from nation winning most EHL titles over past three seasons)
• Places 11-16: Places decided by EHF Executive Committee based on new criteria catalogue

New selection criteria

The number of criteria for the evaluation of clubs will be reduced from eight categories to five categories in the catalogue. The categories are: venue, TV and digital, spectators, results in past EHF competitions and product management by club. All five categories have the same value. This is valid for both the Men’s and Women’s Champions League.

1. Ranking in the domestic league
This criteria awards points by considering the ranking of the club in the domestic league. It therefore considers the sports performance in the domestic competition. A better ranking earns more points. The points are provided by the EHF based on the domestic ranking of the club at the end of the season.

2.Implementation of duties and regulations
This criteria awards points for the level of implementation of the respective requirements of an EHF Club Competition throughout the season. A better and smoother implementation of the respective requirements earns more points. The points are jointly provided by the EHF and the EHF Marketing.

3. Media
This criteria awards points depending on the efforts of the club in the area of social media, on line appearance and media presentation of the club. Important is not only to simply have a home page and a facebook page, but to keep it updated and interesting for fans and media. A more active and interesting internet and social media presence earns more points. The points are provided by the EHF (Media & Communication) based on the appearance of the club in internet and social media as well as the EHF Media’s contacts, co operation and experience with the club concerned throughout the season.

This structure of CL for next season will have change for yhe 2021 22 season. New female teams announce themself as future powers. See cska Moscow. And rostov doesnt look to vanish în the near future. Also see the situation în hungary with 3 team which want to take part at the big pie called Champions league.

Maybe în România beside csm and Vâlcea, a 3rd team will Invest, such as Baia Mare or Bistrița which will get a new sports hall withîn 2 years.
A country important as Denmark maybe wants more cl plăces. 3 maybe.
Maybe în Germany more teams will want to come to The champions league party.

France already has 2 teams. Also Norway its important for female handball.

Beside this countries you have to give a chance for The champions în country which not Invest as much, to play în the group stage.

Unless Ehf gives the chance to more teams to play the chance, în country as România hungary a 3rd contender will not invest knowing that just 2 teams will go to champions league.

For the next season baia mare will have a improved team and try to challenge Vâlcea and CSM. Baia Mare will be a sort of siofok în the Românian league. If after you Invest a lot money în big contract you cant play în champions league.. What can inspire the 3rd team place to invest same or more în good players for the 2021 2022 season... Its too much of a drop financialy between playing în champions league and handball league.

Winner of EHL 20/21 will get a direct place in CL 21/22, so there is a challenge for lots of strong teams, that are not capable to win a championship.

Too little... Hungary 3 team contenders cl spots. România 3 teams contenders. Russia 2 team contenders. Add France Germany and Denmark. Not The mențion The winner of norway, Montenegro, Croația, Slovenia, Sweden.
You think that a team like rostov and New Power Will want to risk being outside CL.

But EHF, says here that only the winners are taken into account and not the coefficient: "Place 10: From European Handball League (place reserved for team from nation winning most EHL titles over past three seasons)"

In the women's, the second team from Romania will fight for the six places with Ferencvaros, Metz, Lada / CSKA Moscow, Bietigheim, MKS Lublin, Hoor, Krim Lujbljana and Podravka. Things can be simplified further, if the representative of Macedonia, Kumamovo or Metalurg Skopje, does not register, which is very possible.

After the decisions taken today by the Federation, Rm. Valcea goes to Champions League and CSM Bucharest will request a wild card. But CSM has already announced that it will challenge the decision at TAS.

This article on the official french league site claims that the EHF has confirmed Brest AND Metz to compete in the CL next season. Did I miss something? Maybe not a huge surprise, but I am used to official announcements by the EHF on such matters - of which I can't find anything at all.
idle banter.
