This is just strange, look at Norway and Denmark, seniors and U19... They both got easiest groups!

Russian squad preparing for the Euro:

Goalkeepers: Anastasiya Vaganova (Astrakhanochka), Maria Duvakina (Dinamo-Sinara), Serafima Tikhanova (Zvezda), Margarita Orlova (Lada).

Field players: Ekaterina Zelenkova, Svetlana Ivanova, Galina Izmaylova, Svetlana Kremneva, Kristina Sorokina, Milana Tazhenova, Anna Shaposhnikova, Svetlana Sheveleva (Astrakhanochka), Kristina Alirzaeva, Anastasiya Brezhneva (Dinamo-Sinara), Alexandra Davidenko, Milana Rzaeva (Kuban'), Maria Dudina (Zvezda), Ilga Shcherbak (Lada), Kseniya Obukhovskaya (Universitet), Ekaterina Koroleva (Stavropolye-SKFU).

Compared to last year Sabirova, Skorobogatchenko, Sinitsyna, Kudryavtseva are missing, mostly due to injury.

The Danish squad for the u19 Euro:
Amalie Milling, HIK
Lærke Sørensen, Molden
Ida Marie Dahl, Ajax
Caroline Svarre, Skanderborg
Nanna Hinnerfelt, FCM
Emma Friis, FCM
Sarah Stougaard, TTH Holstebro
Line Mai Hougaard, TTH Holstebro
Anne Sofie Filtenborg, Viborg
Louise Ellebæk, FCM
Andrea W Bendtsen, Silkeborg Voel
Laura Jensen, FCM
Kristina Jørgensen, Viborg
Line Berggren Larsen, EH Aalborg
Nikoline Lundgreen, Viborg
Nicoline Olsen, Aarhus United

I have kind of stopped trying to find a logic behind how Heine Eriksen picks his players but some of these selections are odd. I love that Ellebæk and Hinnerfeldt are in the team. I have been pushing for those two to be included and now they are going to the European Championship. Line Larsen has also performed for Aalborg, so a spot for her is warranted as well. Laura Jensen hasn't impressed me in a long time, so I'm a bit surprised she is included especially since it seems Heine is going for form in this selection. Stine Nørklit, Stine Eiberg, Mette Brandt and AC Lundbye I would have all preferred over Laura Jensen and Andrea Bendtsen.

A thing I find crazy is that Lea Hansen hasn't been selected. She is clearly the most talented right wing in this generation and she has been in outstanding form the entire season for SK. She is going to be missed on the team for sure. Svarre over Bruus is also questionable but can be defended I guess.

It's an exciting team with some new faces and it will be interesting to see, if these new faces can perform under championship-setting when it really counts. Let's hope they can :D

Here is the Russian squad preparing for the ECh:

Goalkeepers: Margarita Orlova (Lada), Mariya Duvakina (Dinamo-Sinara), Serafima Tikhanova (Zvezda), Anastasiya Vaganova (Astrakhanochka).

Field players: Galina Izmaylova, Svetlana Ivanova, Svetlana Kremneva, Anna Shaposhnikova, Kristina Sorokina, Milana Tazhenova, Ekaterina Zelenkova (Astrakhanochka), Elena Mikhaylichenko, Olga Shcherbak, Varvara Yur'yeva, Ekaterina Kudryavtseva (Lada), Antonina Skorobogatchenko, Milana Rzaeva, Alexandra Davidenko (Kuban'), Mariya Dudina, Anastasiya Illarionova (Zvezda), Kristina Alirzaeva, Anastasiya Brezhneva (Dinamo-Sinara), Ekaterina Koroleva (Stavropolye-SKFU).

This is a very much stronger squad than the one at the Junior Carpathian Trophy. Skorobogatchenko, Kudryavsteva, Dudina are back. I'm afraid that Karina Sabirova may not be fully recovered to play in the ECh :(

All the games are popping up on the ehfTV calendar (and then disappear again or end up in a 404  ). I guess the championship will be broadcast there, which will hopefully mean better and more reliable streams.

Romanian U19 under expectation ,was defeat by Holland 31-24 ! I do not talk about referees because I should be subjective (but...) anyway we have a really weak play.

Opinions after the semifinals:

Bela Bartalos, team Hungary’s goalkeeper coach:
“France is an excellent team with strong players and good attacking play. We had a lot of problems in
defence. The championship is long, and eventually you will play a bad match. Unfortunately, this
happened to us today.”

Eric Baradat, team France’s head coach:
“This was a tough match because Hungary is a good team. We knew before the match that the
Hungarian players had already won six matches, so my players were convinced that they cannot beat
them. I managed to encourage them by saying that it would be difficult but possible. Good tactics
and the atmosphere in the team helped us to win this match.”

Viacheslav Kirilenko, team Russia’s head coach:
“Defence is the most important part of our team, but we were forced to change and adapt it slightly
after losing three of our best defensive players. It is important that we played good defence today
because we faced the reigning European champions with this generation of girls in 2015.”

Heine Mongensen Eriksen, team Denmark's head cocach:
“We already knew before the match that Russia is a good team, so we can only congratulate them on
the win. I believe that we would have won if the match had been two minutes longer or shorter
because we were very close to a win. I can be proud of my team.”

He is mistaken in his belief. Zelenkova equalized to 26:26 at 23:52, and from this point on it was either a draw or Russian advantage.

Well done Brnović!!! Amazing tournament for her, and well deserved place in All Star team!
She has already booked her place in Budućnost! :)
PS. Imagine that she was transferred from playmaker position to line player a year ago... =D> =D> =D>

Impressed by Elena Mikhaylichenko (RUS). Six goals in a final against FRA (didn't play 100% of the time either), and she's born 9/2001 which makes her almost four years younger.
