Re: 2018 Women's Junior U20 WCh (Hungary)

I wonder what does "visa trouble" mean. Is the team simply delayed or they will not travel at all? IHF needs to do something about this, like instituting a deadline for teams to show that all travel documents are in place say... 2 months in advance. If this is not the case then they should...

Re: About the CSM Bucharest project

The contract with the new coach will expire before the F4 anyway :)
Per will insure the continuity for the F4 2019 as well.

As for those interested in the development of USA, here's an interesting podcast and series of links: http://teamhandballnews.com/2018/05/podcast-episode-34-usa-team-handball-development-discussion/ An analysis of the team's performance at NorCa, including individual player stats: http://teamhandbal...

Re: WCh 2019 - Germany & Denmark

And what a mess this PanAm turns out to be. Cuba didn't show up and nobody bother to tell anyone why. Seems it's a visa related problem. All their matches have been cancelled. What's worse is that Cuba was one of the contenders for the semis and for those 3 WCh spots. Seems PATHF has been suspended ...

Re: WCh 2019 - Germany & Denmark

@aletem Sure, for the simple reason we simply don't fare well vs. Scandianvian teams. Their style is simply something we cannot handle right now. So it's not about absolute value, but also about how some teams match other teams. And our only qualifications in the past 8 years have come at the hands ...

Re: WCh 2019 - Germany & Denmark

Well, we sucked today and played like it didn't matter. I am actually disappointed, because it should have been a victory with at least +5. And no, the difference between the teams is on the same level as the difference between our female teams. Then again, a result stands. Romania even lead by +4 ...

I really like what teamhandabllnews are doing with their website. It's full of really interesting info about American and PanAm handball, plus some comments about European handball.

Re: WCh 2019 - Germany & Denmark

The Lithuanians didn't help us at all. The moment Manaskov stole that ball and was whistled as foul and then when he got a suspension for nothing, made me laugh. And that wasn't all. These were the same refs that helped Barca against Vardar 2 years ago. So... with bad refs you win +8, but wit...

Re: WCh 2019 - Germany & Denmark

Iceland won a very dramatic and hard-fought second leg against Lithuania to qualify. As expected, LTU are good. I didn't think they are that good. Malasinskas had a great match, same for the LP and the GK. Beratonis was also good. I didn't see Truchanovicius play in the final 15 mins. Xavi Pasqual r...

Re: WCh 2019 - Germany & Denmark

I was actually expecting Netherlands to win this one. They played consistently well at home against better opposition. Remember that in the previous qualis, they almost beat Hungary at home and pushed Denmark (albeit without Hansen and Landin) for a very tight match. It's strange because I was talki...

Re: WCh 2019 - Germany & Denmark

Some close encounters in the third 3 matches. A bit expected I would say, but the returns should be straight affairs.
I am surprised by Hungary's consistent win in Slovenia. How was that match? I suppose there were a lot of nerves.

Re: 2018 European Championship - France

Following the fun math discussion last night with @Bo$ko, I pulled out the math geek out of me and here's what can happen in the last round in the fight for the last places to the Euro. And check it out, SUI is not yet out!!! Group 1 Case 1 - NOR has a normal win vs. SUI This is the current 3-way ra...

Re: 2018 European Championship - France

Big chance missed by Switzerland yesterday. The heavy score line also puts Switzerland out even of a 3rd place contention (if Ukraine wins in the last round, SUI falls 4th, otherwise they will stay 3rd, but with 0p, losing those against UKR). Ukraine has to win to finish in a 3-way ranking with SUI ...

Re: Liga Națională (Romanian League) 2018/2019

Worth noting that these were virtually the promotion matches. So... Pretty much a worthless tournament just to confirm that Slatina and Galati keep their places.
I believe a restructuring of our second league and even a creation of a third one could do some good.

Re: Transfers 2018/19

Don't really know where to put this, since we don't have league topics in the Male subforum. Chekhovskie Medvedi won the league in Russia yet again. No surprise here. What's interesting is that the second placed team is Spartak Moscow, which lost the final to Chekhovskie after finishing twice 31:31 ...

Re: Promising players - potential stars

Geiger rather capricious player with quite good defence (though) sometime with disorderly passes and play. You are a positive person indeed :) To me, playing Geiger at #2 in defence is the best way to open up a boulevard over there. Same with Manea. We must not forget that Geiger once upon 3-4 matc...

Elena Napar Groposila (ROU/FRA), former NT player of Romania (including part of the Syndey Olympics team) and Rapid Bucharest is currently an active coach in France. Can't find her current club, but it seems in 2014 she was the first female coach of a male French League team (Dijon). Source: https:/...

But some people say that Vipers got one goal extra Brattset "scores" at around 35.30, but the referees says it was techinic fault They changed it from 14 to 15 for on the scoreboard for Vipers, but never take it back from 15 to 14 So actually Craiova won 30-24 Yep, also noticed this. The ...

Then Craiova's coach receives a 2 mins suspension with 3-4s left. Shouldn't the ball have been given back to Vipers in that case? That's the only thing I don't get. No. The game was stopped before, he received his suspension in a timeout. In such a case ball posession remains at the team, according...

Craiova was absolutely fantastic! I followed them throughout the season and it was a joy to watch them pour their hearts into this adventure! I am delighted for them! And what a rollercoaster of a final they had! The public was fantastic, reminding me of the old Oltchim and Baia Mare days. I think i...

Re: Champions League FINAL4 (12-13 May)

(has the arena nationale a retractable roof or something?) It does. It's one (small) reasons for the execution delay and increased costs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arena_Națională#Facilities Can they fill an area with around 50.000 seats? I doubt any handball club, male or female, can do this. ...
