Re: 2018/19 EHF-Cup

I disagree. Any kind of ranking system is the politically correct name for cheating. Well, in turn, I will also disagree with you :) A ranking system is supposed to do exactly this - rank your teams. Seeding is only meant to modify your drawing probas, which is not a bad idea. Avoids ending up with...

Re: 2018/19 EHF-Cup

Tomorrow we'll see if we got the pots right . But yes, EHF's procedure of seeding the ChL teams makes the whole seeding process useless. Also, don't know how Eurocup regulars like Zvezda, VHK and Paris can be unseeded and a first timer like Valcea is seeded. And I didn't! :) Here's the right pots o...

Re: About the CSM Bucharest project

I don't believe that Bougeant would just swap Nantes after a few months (after he voluntarily left Rostov). Almost surely not! Nantes has a REAL project which started in the lower French leagues. Bougeant is the next piece in it and the team seems to be functioning well with him. The club over ther...

Re: Liga Națională (Romanian League) 2018/2019

I know and I agree with the fact that we still have a decent selection pool in women's handball, so unless there are really particular cases (like that Dumanska) it's not necessary to try and take players from other NTs. So we agree here. What I meant is to explain on one side how impractical it wou...

Re: Liga Națională (Romanian League) 2018/2019

I will echo what @Silviu very well said about Glibko, as well as Dumanska. Their cases are obviously different and he explained it well. Every now and then the discussions on Iryna come back, but we forget that she needs i) to be a citizen of Romania (which by now she can become and which she could ...

Re: About the CSM Bucharest project

All very valid points, @swarthofole
However, I don't trust the ability if the 'management' to answer your first set of questions and they don't have any mechanisms to hold anyone accountable for the second.

Re: About the CSM Bucharest project

As in previous cases in Bucharest, it's not a coaching issue. Or at least not primarily. Look at some of the media statements of some of the members of the management team. Anyway, it's sport, you're bound to lose some. Last year it happened too and they still won the league clearly. I would love fo...

Manuel Montoya is the new coach of the Romanian NT, occupying the seat vacated by Xavi Pascual. As opposed to his predecessor he will be a full time coach of the NT and I suppose, he'll be based in Romania. Statements from the press conference can be found here. Just use google translate: https://ww...

Re: General handball news (by IHF, EHF, etc.)

You know how I feel about Moustapha and his clique at the helm of IHF. But truth be told, PanAm has had huge institutional problems itself as well and they have been behaving like little Moustaphas in the past, who aimed at destroying Greenland for example. I think that this split could've helped ha...

Most likely. It's strange to put ONLY the club name in brackets. In this context (university championship), would be relevant to know where are they studying and maybe what :)

Because most of these guys are not even part time students :) Also, because not ALL participating teams are coming with these kind of athletes (talking about the competition in Coimbra mostly). And also, because a student competition is supposed to be a showcase of student sports, not just another w...

Re: world university championship (students competition) 2018 CROATIA

These are fake student competitions. Most of the players from all teams are in fact pro players who are rather part time students than anything. These days, there's the European Student University Games in Coimbra, Portugal (https://www.eug2018.com). From Romania, there were the Uni of Pitesti (2nd ...

Well they did it. 26-22 in a do-or-die match after the debacle yesterday. Credit to them. There still is something in this team. And now, Croatia, who they easily beat only 4 months ago in the qualification group. But both teams seem in a opposite state of mind compared to then.

Re: 2018 Women's Junior U20 WCh (Hungary)

I didn't see the match and frankly I don't think I'll waste my time doing it. From what you say we're talking again about basic things that are lacking. Which really surprises me since Tadici has this aura of defense/discipline expert. It's not the loss itself that worries me, but the magnitude. We ...

Re: 2018 Women's Junior U20 WCh (Hungary)

Well, if they don't win vs. Angola, they'll be out anyway and play the President cup. Wasn't Tadici supposed to be a defense specialist? How do you concede 42 in a WCh game?

And turns out Japan's not such a walk in the park after all. They almost got the win vs. NED too.

Re: WCh 2019 - Germany & Denmark

Indeed, and with the reduction of spots for the next round, the fight for the 3rd spot should be fierce in each group! Group A is very very balanced (excepting France, but you never know) and can be even more if we see a good Korean team. We should also have a benchmark on the Macedonia vs. Iceland ...

Re: WCh 2019 - Germany & Denmark

Finally, Greenland was really close to securing a spot in this tournament, but they lost the bronze final of the PanAm Championship vs. Chile in the ET. Greenland played quite an entertaining brand of Scandinavian-style handball in this tournament and I am sorry they missed the WCH spot. Them and Ch...
