EHF-Cup 2007/2008

Postby meteo » Sun Sep 02, 2007 4:56 pm

Spono Nottwil reached the second round with two wins in Varna. Next opponent will be Galitchanka Lviv from the Ukraine.

Any results from Niksic vs Stjornan?

I can't say that they are so poor, but in their squad are girls with 15-17 years ;)
Dinamo is experienced team , so I am not so suprised with this results.

Kicevo - U.S. Mios Biganos (FRA) 21 - 30 (12-15)

Decent match from the Kicevo youths against the pro players from France, pity that GK Tanja Andrejeva signed with Kometal, good GK that would have keep down the scoreline even more. But thats expected, Kicevo is just a start place for youths, they who become good go to Kometal.

Thank you jgomsi, I actually thought that Randers would lose their home match as well, so I'm satisfied.
The Danish League is unfortunately very thinned out this year, thanks to one of my two favourite teams, Viborg, actually. Viborg has begun to do the same to Danish handball as Larvik has been doing to Norwegian handball for years, namely "buying out" all the other teams by buying their best players.
This trend is actually a much much bigger risk for Danish handballs popularity, than the much discussed lack of playing time to the Danish talents. If this trend goes on, then Danish handball could look a lot like Norwegian handball in a couple of years.

Could you be any more dramatic? As far as I know Viborg haven´t bought any players from Randers, so don´t blame them.

But otherwise you are right. Except for Viborg and maybe Ikast the Danish teams do seem to have dropped in level and I expected Elda to win this as well. But come on, players rotate among the clubs - Brødsgård, Nicolas, Bonde, Svalastog... When a contract expires the player is free for everyone to bid on.

Why did Randers shoot at all with 10 second to go?
If they have kept the ball to the end without shooting so the match would end 27-23, then Randers would have won on more away goals.

Disclaimer: I dind't see the match, but it just seems stupid to shoot with 10 second to go unless you are really forced to, when you would have gone through to the next round if no more goals were scored.
They had nothing to win and everything to loose by taking the risk to shoot before full time, unless the refs had the hands in the air foer some time before.

I can be very dramatic, but I'm not trying to, I'm just telling how I see things developing, and I can see that you actually agree a long way. ;)

Regarding Randers, I never said Viborg was to blame about that result, read my post again if you think I did. I was talking more generally when I talked about how Viborg effected the Danish league.

You are right players rotate, and I didn't say it was illegal or anything what Viborg has done. All I'm trying to say is that they could very well be digging their own grave, so to speak, if they continue buying all the "Danish" talents. I for one won't be watching if the Danish league if it looks like the Norwegian in a couple of years, and I'm sure a lot of other fans will get tired of watching the same team blast all the other teams by 15+ goals each match.
