Some exciting newer left back-names in the Danish u19-squad. AC Lundbye, who has been in the squad before, and Stine Nørklit. Looks like Heine is trying to find a left-back with a dangerous shot, and if that is the criteria, then Lundbye should have a good possibility. She has a very good right hand. Lundbye is instrumental for HIK in their attempt to get to DM without Elver. Nørklit is probably a bit overlooked given Stine Eiberg is on the same team as her, but those two just keep getting better and the future is exciting with them and Dahl/Line Krogh in Ajax. Other than that - mainly same old, same old for Heine.

I thought Emilie Steffensen had an injury or just had to withdraw from the squad for some reason but seems like that wasn't the case. I would be shocked if she isn't in the squad for this summers championship but right now it doesn't seem like she is one of the players the coaching staff wants to count on. However I'm very happy that Tuborg has finally recognized that Laura Nielsen deserves to play on this level.

A little status of how it's going in the youth leagues in Denmark.

FCM has basically booked their ticket to the u18 Danish Championship after they beat SK 21-20 last friday. Louise Ellebæk is a dangerous left back but also lesser known players like pivot Nanna Hinnerfeldt and the u16 keeper Nicole Rasmussen are playing very well for FCM this season.

The other contenders in for the West-ticket to the championship are SK Aarhus and DUH Esbjerg. They play in Aarhus on sunday, and hopefully SK's biggest profiles this season, Lea Hansen and Emma Laursen, are ready. Catherine Csebits is playing very well at the moment as well.

In East, Rødøvre is number 1 in the league right now. Their biggest profile is somewhat overlooked in the Danish talent-scene, and that's their left wing Johanne Farlov, who should be talked about more in the future. She is doing great in the 2. division and u18 league for Rødøvre.

Ajax has won all their 4 matches so far, and they should be a lock for the championship. Stine Eiberg and Stine Nørklit is a dangerous duo, and if they bring Ida-Marie Dahl to the championship, then they have a great team.

HIK have been in trouble in the u18-league without Elver, who still haven't featured in a match because of injury. They are going to fight with Rødøvre for the last spot and it will be interesting to see if we will see Milling, AC Lundbye, Emmely Christensen and so on when it counts.

The last thing I want to touch on is that GOG has a very interesting backcourt-player in Amalie Westergaard. She's from 2001 but already featuring on their u18-team.

So while some of Denmark were interested in watching the senior NT get destroyed yet again, we had the Elite Cup final between FCM and SK Aarhus.. Unfortunately FCM won 24-20 after SK was in front the entire match. Even had a 6-1 lead to start the match but when FCM got settled in their defense, it was difficult for SK to score. Also when Emma Laursen has an off-day for her standards, then it's a bit more difficult. Lea Hansen was great as she has been this entire season. She is getting better and better and it's a joy to watch. Lærke Sørensen also had a great match.

FCM had their usual suspects on the team but it will never stop being great to watch Louise Ellebæk hit the top corner on her shots far, far away. Laura Jensen was also decent when she got warm. Just annoying that SK keep losing these close matches to FCM. This was probably a preview of the two teams going to DM from Jylland, and the last match between these teams ended 21-20 to FCM, so it's very close right now.

But congrats to FCM nonetheless.

The two finalists in the u18 tournament:

The Danish u17 national team for two matches against Russia in april. Tuborg has named some new names to see them in a NT-match. Happy to see Emma Laursen and Anna Wierzba in the team. They are playing at a very high level at the moment. As usual I think Laura Nielsen deserves a call-up for some NT-matches. Her and Wierzba was instrumental in HEI/VRI beating FCM u16 today. It's an exciting generation with a ton of physique. You rarely see so many physical 16-17 year olds in a team.

The majority of the public is focusing on the World Championship at the moment - with good reason - but in Denmark we have found the u18-teams who will compete in the League during the spring... And it's without Aarhus. After being used to crushing opponents the last couple of years, Aarhus United was beat by Fredericia in their promotion match in extra-time. This is a Fredericia-team without Cecilie Pedersen and Emma Skou, so a headscratcher to say the least that Aarhus couldn't get promoted. A shame really.

But it definitely seems like a two-horse race right now. Silkeborg-Voel on one side - FCM on the other side. Those teams have so many great talents that it's difficult to see anybody beating them. Silkeborg is unbeaten so far. 9 wins, 1 draw. FCM has lost one but won the other 9.

To name a few of the Silkeborg stars, you have Emma Skou, Emma Laursen, Lea Hansen, Emilie Ytting, Natasja Andreasen, Laura Nielsen and Andrea Bendtsen. All players who are in national team consideration and they are just some of the best youth players in Denmark - regardless of being on the national team or not. Laura Nielsen and Lea Hansen might be two of the best youth players and they are certainly not really in the youth national teams. Would be kind of a joke if they are not playing in the World Championships next summer.

FCM is always good but them against Silkeborg will be a great show. Michala Møller vs Natasja Andreasen, Emma Laursen vs Emilie Steffensen. The one position where FCM is definintely better is the pivot. Nanna Hinnerfeldt is fantastic and she will cause Silkeborg a ton of trouble.

Skanderborg is the only team I can see would cause FCM and Silkeborg trouble. Just because they have Anna Kristensen who is a fantastic keeper. Then add Emilie Jäger and Cecilie Pedersen which can make them beat anyone. But this season is all set up for a showdown with Silkeborg and FCM in the u18 DM-final.

Maybe not the piece of information that interest most of the forum members, but I find it very enlightening, so thank you very much. Nice to hear how the future prospects are doing on club level. I´ve seen Lea Hansen play a couple of league matches where she has really impressed me, which is why I´m surprised she´s not first pick for the U20 NT together with Line Hougaard. Although the names mentioned are good players, I don´t think there is a future international top player amongst them. Perhaps Emilie Steffensen from what I have seen.
