Dinamo Volgograd, Rostov-Don Rostov on Don, Lada Togliatti, Zvezda Zvenigorod, Astrakhanochka Astrakhan, Kuban Krasnodar, Luch Moscow, AGU-Adyif Maykop, Universitet Izhevsk.

9 clubs to start the new season in the Russian Superleague:

■ Dinamo Volgograd (defending champion)
■ Rostov-Don Rostov on Don
■ Lada Togliatti
■ Zvezda Zvenigorod
■ Astrakhanochka Astrakhan
■ Kuban Krasnodar
■ Luch Moscow
■ AGU-Adyif Maykop
■ University Izhevsk

We're lacking Kirovchanka St.Petersburg since their bancrupcy during previous season. No one team from the second level wanted to join Superlague pack. There was rumours that Lada second team may join the league, but it remains by 9 teams after all.
The playing system is the same as in the last season, there will be Preliminary round with 18 matchdays and play-offs. First matches to be played on Sep, 5 2012.

Russian clubs in Eurocups 2012/2013:
CL: Dinamo
CL (Qual.): Rostov-Don, Zvezda
CWC: -
EHF Cup: Lada, Kuban, Astrakhanochka

A list of summer transfer to follow...

the biggest european country with the lowest teams in the first division.
it is a shame but it shows the reality that not only women handball in russia is getting less popular.

1. From among the top countries in women's handball history, Russia probably always had the lowest count of teams in the first division.
2. Actually it is important how many competitive top teams you have in the league, because you need strong league, not high-number-of-participants league. And, imho, Russia is looking quite good on this matter comparing the other top countries.

Repeat from the neighbouring topic: They are tired and thinking about maternity leave. Maybe they join during the season, but surely not sooner than in January.

Yes. Defending champion from the 2011/12 season is Rostov-Don. Zvezda won it in 2010/11 season.

Some interesting results in today's Superleague round.

Zvezda without any chance in Togliatti after great performance by Lada =D>
Also, Kuban beat Dinamo at home. Good warning signal for Dinamo before the upcoming Fradi-challenge.

Today we faced anothеr interesting day in Superleague.

Dinamo beat Lada in Togliatti and their key factor of the success was...Mayssa Pessoa with the ratio of 45%. Quite bad game by Lada in attack.
Zvezda crushed Rostov-Don with brilliant handball. 80% shooting percentage in the 1st half, +9 at the halftime and a walk in the 2nd half. Btw, Zvezda's Anna Vyakhireva got an invitation card for the preparation of Russian NT before the EURO. Being 17-years old we'll maybe see her play for the senior NT in Serbia! Good luck! =D> And I hope Bobrovnikova from Rostov will get a chance soon, too.
Finally, Kuban surprisingly lost to Luch at home.

This have nothing to do with Russian Superleauge, but don't were else to put it! :p

I have noticed that some of Ukraine's best players:
Maryna Vergeliuk-Strile, Anastasiya Pidpalova, Viktoriya Borshchenko, Regina Shymkute, Yuliya Snopova and Olga Nikolayenko (and possible more players) are all registed that they are from Herson (Kherson) in Ukraine. (EHF)

Is Kherson like handballcity? with handballschool etc like in Toljatti & Volgograd?

Yes, women's handball has quite long tradition in Kherson and it's the most significant collective sport in the town. Like in Togliatti or Volgograd, there is also big youth sports school with the handball specialization. Here is some nice article about the history of handball in Kherson. (In Russian)
