After quarterfinal games 2, we already know one semifinal pair. But only one, because Dinamo lost at home against Astrakhanohcka after brave performace of Kirilenko girls (26:28). Well deserved win for Astra, especially Eric and Artyukovich were unbelievable =D> Decisive 3rd game to be played tomorrow, again in Volgograd. I'd like hope for one more fight.

Semifinal pairs (dates t.b.a.):
Zvezda v winner Dinamo/Astrakhanochka
Rostov-Don v Lada

Astrakhanochka was not able to win in Volgograd for the second time in a row and therefore kick Dinamo out from the championship. So big Russian 4 remain to be big Russian 4. Today, it was clear thing for Dinamo from the opening whistle up to the last one.

3rd quarterfinal: Dinamo 27-22 (16-8) Astrakhanochka

Completed semifinal pairs (dates t.b.a.):
Zvezda v Dinamo
Rostov-Don v Lada

Second match between Zvezda and Dinamo to be played tomorrow (Apr 2) and it's must win game for Zvezda. If Zvezda can tie the series, there will be decisive 3rd match on the very next day (Apr 3), again in Zvenigorod.

You can watch the game(s) live from 16:00 CET here: http://www.rushandball.ru/content/?sitcnt=436

These games probably have a huge significance for the whole club of Zvenigorod. It is possible, that Zvezda may lose some budget grants for the next season (at least) in case of missing the final and lot of players will leave the club.

Btw, besides Nikolic, one more key player from the starting lineup will leave Zvezda after the end of season for sure. Who's that and where is she heading remains unclear now.

Zvezda is out! Dinamo is in the final again, after winning the 2nd match after 7m shotout.

Recorded match: http://tvstart.media.eagleplatform.com/ ... d_id=84684

Well, well,well... Only God knows what will happen in Zvenigorod now. But I think Zovko and his Croatian company will be most propably fired.

Does that mean that Zvezda will definitely not play CL next year and consequently lose most of its international players ? (Lacrabère, Rocha, Posnova, Kalinina, etc.)

Unbelievable. Just like the SciFi result of the 1st game.

Just my guess: Lacrabère would have left the team anyway, final or no final.

It was a nice match, but why was Anna Vyakhireva and Khmyrova not playing? I assume they are injured, but what is wrong with them more concretely?

Vyakhireva is out with soft knee injury, she even underwent some surgical intervention. Khmyrova still recovering from an ankle injury, she played 10 minutes yesterday.

Zvezda's crucial goal for this season was to win Russian title...

Another epic match in Russia, in which Rostov was a bit luckier team and earned the final spot after 7m shoutout win. It means, that we'll face the same final for the third year in a row: Dinamo vs Rostov-Don.

Watch the deciding 3rd semifinal match Rostov-Lada recorded here: http://tvstart.media.eagleplatform.com/ ... d_id=86658

One of the Kazakh teams may join Russian Superleague in the upcoming 2013/14 season. They have sent an official letter to the Russian Handball Federation with quite serious request for joining the league, anyway, there wasn't any official answer from the Russians so far. Let's wait what happen in the near future.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Dates of the final placement clashes in the current season are known:

Final Rostov-Don vs Dinamo: Apr 17 in Volgograd; Apr 23(24) in Rostov.
Bronze medal series Zvezda vs Lada: Apr 17 in Togliatti; Apr 23(24) in Zvenigorod.
