EC 2012 serbia: Preliminary Round 1

Postby Mr. 007 » Sun Dec 02, 2012 9:32 pm

Two days away for kick off :)

Group A:
04.12.2012 17:45 Ukraine vs Czech Republic
04.12.2012 20:15 Norway vs Serbia -It hurts my heart, but my brain says Serbia will win this match...hopefully we get more of the newcomers started though as we need a wide bench to go all the way.
Hergeirsson says he will use a core of players with a heavy burden, but as we saw against France a 5 goal lead at first half, wasn't eniugh as the coreplayers got tired in the end...our strength have always been a wider bench with fresh legs and fast handball. For now we don't have that if he don't involve the newcomers much much more...

Group B:
04.12.2012 18:15 France vs Macedonia
04.12.2012 20:15 Sweden vs Denmark -Denmark will most likely win, and then Pytlick will fulfill his goal to move on from Preliminary Round already in his first match...

Group C:
04.12.2012 18:15 Germany vs Spain
04.12.2012 20:15 Croatia vs Hungary

Group D:
04.12.2012 18:05 Montenegro vs Iceland -EDIT: Would be really fun if Iceland could step up in international handball. I think they have a fair chance against Montenegro to make a surprise this round :)
04.12.2012 20:15 Romania vs Russia

Group A:
04.12.2012 17:45 Ukraine vs Czech Republic
Czechs have to pay for their inexperience

04.12.2012 20:15 Norway vs Serbia
Norway's always a slow starter, Serbia on home soil.

Group B:
04.12.2012 18:15 France vs Macedonia
France with a clear win

04.12.2012 20:15 Sweden vs Denmark
Think Sweden will draw the right conclusions from tournament in Bergen, but the match were I am most uncertain

Group C:
04.12.2012 18:15 Germany vs Spain
Match of the right-handed-left-backs after Germany has lost their first 3 players on that position. Spain is not invincible and maybe Germany is so well prepared for that match like last year when they beat Norway, but Spain is clear Favorite

04.12.2012 20:15 Croatia vs Hungary
Without all the missing back players for Croatia a hungarian defeat would be a big surprise

Group D:
04.12.2012 18:05 Montenegro vs Iceland
Match of the "dark horses". What will Montenegro be without Popovic? And can Iceland surprise like during the last WCh?

04.12.2012 20:15 Romania vs Russia
Russia the team with the unknown roster. But they will manage to beat Romania for sure.
Greetings from Germany

Group A:
04.12.2012 17:45 Ukraine vs Czech Republic

04.12.2012 20:15 Norway vs Serbia
Norway has a better team and the starting 7 has tons of experience.

Group B:
04.12.2012 18:15 France vs Macedonia
Easy win for France

04.12.2012 20:15 Sweden vs Denmark
I don't like Pytlick and his choise of using a small pm with technique, passing skills and mobility, but with problems in scoring and defence. I love the Danish gks and pivots.A close game ending with a DK win

Group C:
04.12.2012 18:15 Germany vs Spain
Spain has a more balanced team and it's almost the only team without injury problems

04.12.2012 20:15 Croatia vs Hungary
The best Croatian players are missing

Group D:
04.12.2012 18:05 Montenegro vs Iceland
Buducnost defence and Katarina for scoring.

04.12.2012 20:15 Romania vs Russia
Our best player is out for this match. No one gives us a chance.I saw the Russian team, many new unexperienced players ,but somehow they always manage to beat us.IMO this is a 50-50 game. We'll have a great fan support and the girls will be very determined to win this for Paula. It will be very close, but I give this to our girls.

don`t forget all the points count for the main groups! this is not the World Championships tournament. so I don`t see Serbia (not as good as the male team) defeating Norway even with the public behind and even with some referees help. Norway are champions, but even more favorites are Ukraine, France and Montenegro.

Norway isn't favourite, but come on, it would be a huge suprise if Serbia beat Norway.

in my opinion only Croatia-Hungary and Romania-Russia are unpredictable, if Denmark will not retard somehow against Sweden. Spain should be able to defeat Germany, did you see Spain`s squad? Spain never had such a roster like now. even Nerea Pena is progressing very good at FTC.

I'm crossing my fingers here, hoping Iceland's performance in the WCh's last year wasn't just a string of luck.

I'd actually like to think we have a chance against Montenegro tomorrow. Not sure how far-fetched it is, though.

You got a point- There is always some team that surprises each time, and I think Iceland could do it against a weakened Montenegro. Think I will try to watch this one :)

Sorry Scandinavians, but if you're looking for a suspense thriller in the very first round, then I suggest that you watch the 20:15 encounter in the Belgrade Arena.

Belgrade arena will probably be only 1/3 filled against Norway (6-8k), women's handball is not really in the center of attention here, I hope I'm wrong.

Norway definitely has better team, but when you play at home court it is psychologically a big advantage and there's always a chance to play entire tournament in a trance above your normal level.

although she definitely won't be missed regardless of the fact who will be taking her place..
we haven't played a single preparation game with this squad..
the only thing that we have is element of surprise and that can be enough maybe for entire first half..
at the end anything except of Hungary win would be a huge surprise, even if Hungary is far from the force they once were..

If Tatari plays with cruciate ligament injury I would be very surprised... ;) Don't trust wikipedia ;)

Romania also doesn`t have fully recovered all the players (Neagu and Stanca) and we don`t complain.

I'm not complaining, just stating a fact. I don't see another gold in the horizon, but Serbia should result in 2 points.

Solberg, Næss, Oftedal, Edin, Gosse, Bjørndalen, Jakobsen.

It's embarrassing to be one day before the start of the competition and not to show the 16 players squad of every team on the official website.

If you look on the website of the competition Horvat and Penezic are considered key players of this Croatian team with one day before the start of the show. :shock:Can someone tell those from EHF that those players are not in Serbia  Is Franic in the team?

it`s not my fault, I had the feeling Horvat retired and Tatari is injured, while I thought Penezić could be in squad. there are rumors she isn`t even on list. big absences.

If the team rosters have to be announced during the technical meeting (today evening or even tomorrow?) than it's quite hard work to have that rosters already online... ;)
