Danish League 2014/2015

Postby heavenly » Sun Aug 03, 2014 5:14 pm

I thought some Danish fans would open the topic "Danish League".
So I decided to start it even if I'm french. ;)

Well, the season 2014-2015 looks very exciting as many clubs changed
deeply their squads. That probably means some of them would need
actually decent time to integrate fully the new players...

My pronostic for the top 6:

1st - FCM has the most solid squad although they lost their general
defender Svalastog and playmaker Lærke Møller. After all, FCM succeeded
to keep the best League player Nycke Groot (until 2016) and the best
keeper Sabine Englert. Besides, they obtained 3 good signings:
Ida Alstad and Sabine Pedersen should fit very well with their style of
play. Sabina Jacobsen is a good defender, she should play in central
defense with Groot.
But I'm still not convinced by their left wingers. Maybe Fie Woller will
show me that I'm totally wrong. :)

2nd - Viborg HK, the defending champion, will have a very difficult season.
Due to economical problems, they reduced drastically the number of their
players. Their main players are still very good: Masson - Fisker, Damnjanovic,
Gulldén, Burgaard, Lyksborg, Gravholt. But those players are not robots, they
will need rest time during this season. So Dalmose has an obligation to use often
his U18 players. That could cause them big trouble of course !

3nd - Team Esbjerg kept all their main players. Besides, they signed two
very good right backs: Laura van der Heijden and Ida Bjørndalen.

4th - TTH signed a lot of new and interesting players (among other Lærke Møller,
Silje Solberg, Nathalie Hagman). Bad news for them: Hjort, their young defender can't
play the first part of the season.

5th - Randers HK recruited two amazing players Jane Schumacher and Linn Gossé.
Good point for their attack although they still don't have a real long distance shooter.
And also, the keepers duo Vojcic/Lundsby seems a bit weak compared to the other top teams...

6th - Copenhagen Handball is a very good mix between experienced players (Bonde,
Svalastog, Føns, Holsmgaard) and promising young players (AM Hansen, AM Pedersen,
Signe Sjølund etc). Unfortunately, two of their new signings (Mia Rej and Ronja Johansen)
got serious knee injuries.

I believe it will be an exciting season this year. 3 teams are in my mind all able to take the title and they're all very equal: Team Esbjerg, Viborg and FCM. Agreed, Viborg is not as wide as the other two teams but their starting 7 is in my mind a level above the rest and is the only starting 7 in the Danish league right now that I would described as World class. Team Esbjerg with the goal machine Bjørndalen can also go all the way IMO and FCM too if they can make their defense work.

Below top 3 I see TTH being in danger with both CPH and Odense strengthening their squads, since I'm not sure TTH's new concert will work and wether Møller will be fit to play a whole season. Their defense is as usual a big questionmark. Randers can also get in trouble I believe, on the other hand they usually perform better than I expect.

My top six:

Viborg
FCM
Team Esbjerg
Randers
CPH
Odense

I know and I'll be the happiest if their concept with a healthy Møller works but I see alot of challenges for them (and maybe Randers too) with CPH now having a proper shooting back (who can open the room in the opponents defense for the other decent attack players they have ) and also a reinforced Odense. Odense also has the advantage of fewer new players to integrate, and I believe CPH also has the upper hand over TTH there. But time will tell, its all rather exciting :)

My top six.

1. FCM
2. Viborg HK
3.Team Esbjerg
4.Team Tvis Holstebro
5. København Håndbold
6. Randers HK/HC Odense

i think this could be the most exiting season in the danish league in many, many years.
The difference between the top teams is very small this year as i see it, and perhaps we are in for some heavy surprises.

On the other site it would be interesting to hear who you think have to fight for survival,

Silkeborg/Voel got crushed by Team Tvis this weekend (without knowing which player they had at there disposal) maybe theirs a candidate to go back to the 1. division.

on the other hand, i think that if the teams from the lower end og the league is having a bad day against Team Tvis you will get run over by the many very fast player that they have Kristiansen, Møller, Hagman, Roberts ect.

its probably not the last destroying victory we will see from Team Tvis. With that being said i think they can get some problems against teams with a greater psychics then them, especially Viborg and FCM is in my eyes to heavy a task for Tvis. but again time will tell.

its very exiting.

I don't think that Odense will have a better team compared to last year.
Their right side seems weaker now. Right-winger Katja Marcher has a
shoulder injury. She will be operated and can't play until january.
Besides, right back Nanna Willumsen seems to a fragile player. I don't
understand why they didn't try to sign a new RB...

Finally, their new signing Mathilde Nielsen is injured, right ?

Honestly, TTH is better than HCO. I have no doubt on that. Even CPH is
stronger than HCO.

The battles between the top teams will be very interesting to follow.

But I also want to talk on the newcomers in the League because there are
so much exciting new players to watch for this new season !

Danish young talents
Anne Mette Hansen (CPH) and Mette Tranborg (SKA). I expect a lot from
both players. I consider them as the greatest young Danish talents at the
moment, they have the potential to become big stars in the coming years !

Althea Reinhardt (NFH keeper) was amazing during the U18 WCh: she should
have decent playing time because her club can't find a clear first choice
at GK position...

But I'm so sad great talent Ronja Johansen got this cruciate ligament injury
during the U18 WCh. I hope Ronja will come back stronger next year !

Swedish players' invasion or the Helle Thomsen's effect :)
Nathalie Hagman, Jamina Roberts, Linn Blohm, Johanna Westberg
(haha, Wallén, Ahlm, Jacobsen, Adler and Helleberg are already League players ;))

Brazilian players
Mayara Fier de Moura, Elaine Gomes Barbosa, Jaqueline Anastácio

Norwegian players
Linn Gossé and Silje Solberg

Dutch player
Laura van der Heijden

My predictions for the 2014/2015 season:

1. Viborg HK
2. Team Esbjerg
3. FCM
4. Team Tvis Holstebro
5. Randers HK
6. HC Odense

I don't have confidence in Copenhagen. I really don't believe, that they have, what it takes to get in the playoffs. As I see it, they are not stronger than last year. Besides, some off their players are fragile and has a history with a lot of injuries.

It may seem like HC Odense doesn't have a stronger team than last year. But as I hear, they are in way better shape than last year. And last year they got in trouble, because they couldn't play 60 minutes in a high tempo. I think, they can this season.
Yes, Katja Marcher are injuried. But she is only a backup anyway. They have a lot trust in Louise Kristensen, who has a lot of potential.

And Heavenly. Believe me. They have tried to get a right back. But the ones that they have negotiated with, have chosen other clubs by different reasons.
But I hear some rumours about a new player coming to Odense soon. And I think that is a right back.

I agree with your top 6 as final @heavenly, but expect Viborg as third only, after the main round.
I expect Silkeborg-Voel to relegate.

I hope for Alstad & Jacobsen as central defenders, leaving Groot for the attacking play and defense on LB as rest for Stine Jørgensen.

Johanna Westberg is a clear shooter imo.

That girl on the left looks like Simone Larsen Poulsen. With Skive FH until 2012 and then she played for Travemünde and Kirchhof in the 2. German league. I think she was meant to play for the latter this season too, but then they were unfortunately relegated. Good to see that she continues to play handball...even in the top league that is! :)

@Mixball - Can you record the Super Cup match between FCM-VHK on Friday, please ?
Thanks in advance. ;-)

Well, the new season starts badly for Viborg with Fisker shoulder injury. Damnjanovic
still suffers from her knee and Skov is still in rehabilitation.

I wonder how Viborg players will survive to the coming long season without any injury ?
Small roster = less rest time for their players. Especially for international players
(Gulldėn, Burgaard, Gravholt, Damnjanovic, Fisker) who will have to play for their
respective national teams as well...

Maybe I was a bit optimistic to predict VHK finishing at the 2nd place after the regular
season. You're probably right Mixball.

@HB9 - Europamester tried to answer to your question. :-)

For once I'm rather pesimistic about our teams. The best have gotten weaker. I'd much rather prefer it was the second best who'd gotten stronger in stead.

I'm afraid it'll be a somewhat horrible year internationally, and that we should be lucky to have a team in the main round of CL.

As such the only reason I see for excitement in the league is due to a lack of quality and I'm afraid that won't have a positive effect in the long term. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong... I'm.. sure I will :p

I still think we will have the most exciting domestic league for years.

And internationally? Well to be honest I don't care.

In CL a small number of clubs are way better than the rest.

You're very welcome not to care and it's probably the wrong topic to bring it up in anyway.

I just remember back when he'd all the gold, we wanted the other nations teams to get stronger, so it'd be more exciting. Now they've it, and I hope most of us still care about competing.

Tak Mixball. :) and congrats FCM for winning the Super Cup!
FCM has better youngsters than VHK. I simply hope that Helle
will give some playing time to Pauline Bøgelund and Stephanie
Andersen this season. They totally deserve it.

Really looking forward to the danish season this year!

Last year SK Aarhus won against København, and all teams can win againt all, I would not be surprices to see København win against FCM or Viborg..

Today there are 4 games:

The most interesting are Team Tvis - Team Esbjerg. Polman is injuried but will play and have been told that she can not make it any worse by playing.

Roberts have been out a few games but is back again...this will be a clash..just one thing missing... TV!!!

Also Brazil power from NFH against Ringkøbing will be very interesting.

Randers at home against Voel and FCM against Skive will be home victories, but always interesting thise first matches :-)
Think I will go for something possitive here - Handball is just a great sport!

It's great they make this statistic, but it's only numbers and doesn't always say much about the match.

For example i watched the FCM-Skive fH match yesterday and i can see Olivera Jurisic has a MEP on 1,72 while Kristina Bille has the biggest effective number on 2,12. But Jurisic was really Skive's best player - it would have been much worse without her. So sometimes it doesn't give a clear view from just the number :)

And i see they sat Sabine Pedersen to 7/7 (100%) in scoring. That's a mistake - she missed her first shot.

Anyway, i would just point it out, since it's been a long time since i looked at these stats. I still think it's great they make it - it's nice to look at the matches you aren't able to watch :)

So Sabine Pedersen only missed one shot. Not bad. :p Hope she will
be good for the CL qualification tournament.
