It's a complicated system but a good one. The thing i do not like is the qualification to the WCh itself. I would like to have groups of 4 insted of knockout duels.

The problem is that qualifying tournament #1 is a waste of everyone's time. And finishing 7th at the WCh is more rewarding than being 4th, which is illogical.

You never know.
+ finishing high as possible can guarantee you an organizing right, which is also a factor.
There is no perfect justice and you have to have some compromises. I think this quali system is a good blend of the outcome of 2 major events. If you are good on one of them, you can qualify. My only negative remark is about the playoffs for getting to the Wch, which should be changed (this wildcard-system shows it exactly)

However, big day today :)
I hope for a victory of Brazil, Norway, Holland and Sweden. That would mean 99% qualification tournament for us :)
/In the case of the victories of the above teams, our only "killer" would be an Angola-Korea or Brazil-Korea final + our not qualifying to the Top 8. This is highly unliklely :) /

So, definitive 9-16 place ranking looks as follows:

9. Sweden
10. Brazil
11. Hungary
12. Spain
13. Germany
14. South Korea
15. Serbia
16. Angola

This ranking is already not important at all in the process of qualification to the 2016 Olympics.

Unlike the previous two tournaments, no teams outside Europe in the last 8.

Brazil never looked like they would even come close to defending their title. Amorim is not playing like before and it shows. So many of their key players are well over 30, the Olympics will obviously be a swan song for this generation and who knows what the future holds for them.

Korea is steadily declining. They're simply not adequate enough either offensively or defensively and they can't physically cope with the major teams. They're always a different beast at the Olympics but sadly I don't think the sheer quality is there anymore.

Angola could once be a major headache for everyone, not anymore. Japan showed a lot of nice things two years ago, very little of it this time. Tunisia going down as well.

On the other hand, China was perhaps a bit less of a disaster than before, but it's still far, far, far away from something serious.

In the group phase there were 33 games where one party was European and the other one was not. 30 of them were won by the Europeans, 13 of them by a margin of over 20.
No European team in the President's Cup and no team from outside Europe in the quarterfinals.
I agree with Joana: female handball in other continents seems to decline which is sad.
In conclusion, I declare that EHF must be destroyed

Yes maybe, but the higher level competition inside Europe has also an impact I think. :-k
+ IHF wildcard circus.

Level in Europe have never been higher or wider before. So many countries can now win medals, and reaching a final is pretty open :)

true, 16 nations (!) with a Serbia with Lekic, Damnjanovic and Cvijic, and Croatia which isn`t qualified. the Netherlands and Poland also joined the top in the last years. women`s handball > men`s handball (a lot, much better without discussion)

Depends what you're looking at. This is also why sponsors, TVs are just throwing money at women's handball (who's now widely professional), compared to the male one which is still semi-pro and struggles in most countries, including Europe.

So, another tournament, another disappointment for France and Russia. So much potential that never delivers.
French attack has been a mess the entire tournament and they don't really have the super defence of Krumbholz era to make up for it. Niombla and Lacrabere can go off at any time, so unstable.
Russia started the tournament with a bang but kept going downhill since. It looks like the team is not mentally tough enough. The player selection looks a bit suspect as well. It's sad to see a formerly great player like Marennikova be a shadow her former self. You could say the same about Bliznova. And my God, those keepers. They belong on an Asian team.

Sedoykina is a good keeper. But she is only second choice in Rostov, so she hardly plays.

A very interesting interview with Cristina Neagu. She responded to Gheorghe Tadici filthy words.
