Danish League 2015-2016

Postby heavenly » Wed Aug 12, 2015 2:27 pm

The Super Cup match between FCM and Team Esbjerg is coming soon on the 20th August. It's time to
open the topic Danish League 2015-2016.

The 2015-2016 season looks promising as many clubs have operated a lot of movements in their squad.
Of course, I don't forget that many stars (Groot, Gulldén, Damnjanovic, Fisker, and Line Jørgensen)
decided to leave the Danish League.
Nevertheless, some Danish clubs registered the venue of Norwegian NT players (Veronica Kristiansen,
Camilla Herrem, Betina Riegelhuth, Maja Jakobsen).
On the another hand, many Swedish players are still very attracted to play in Denmark. For example,
Jenny Alm or Emelie Westberg responded favorably respectively to Team Esbjerg and NFH. Besides, I
don't think that the recent Helle Thomsen's dismissal from Sweden NT would change anything in their
decisions to join the Boxer Dameligaen. Even Brazilian star keeper Barbara Arenhart signed for NFH
surprisingly.
Which clubs would finish into the top 6 and then qualify for the playoffs ? Which clubs would be in
danger of relegation ?

After this short introduction, I'm gonna trying to answer to those 2 questions.

So here's my prediction for the coming regular season of the Danish League (from team ranked 1st to
12th position):

1st, Team Esbjerg only lost 1 important player (Johanna Ahlm). It will be a solid team with 2 good
keepers (Sando and Idéhn). The responsibility of the TE game will be on the shoulder of Lotte Grigel
with the help of Jenny Alm. Grigel can show again she's still a class playmaker after being in the
shadow of Ahlm. I'm impressed by the big potential in attack of this team. They have probably the best
back shooters (Alm, Polman, Riegelhuth, van der Heijden). Even Grigel can score a lot of goals in a
good day. :) So Esbjerg has good chane to win again the regular season (because it will be difficult
to qualify for the CL at Baia Mare). Spending less effort compared to FCM. Or I'm totally wrong and TE
will conquer their CL ticket in Romania. :)

2nd, FCM. I know losing Nycke Groot will be a big loss for the defending Champion. She was clearly the
best Danish League player and was decisive in both end of the courts for her former club. But FCM
replaced her by a good duo of playmakers: Johanna Ahlm and Veronica Kristiansen (who can also play as
left back). Moreover, Burgaard replacing Line Jørgensen is the best choice they could get. Maybe the
the new FCM will be slightly weaker in defense but they still have the best keeper Englert and a solid
defender Sabina Jacobsen who can play as RB in attack if needed. Unfortunately, the Champions League
will cost them a lot of energy (very difficult CL draw). Not counting that their many NT players will
have to play the WCh in december too.

3rd, TTH will have to do without their emblematic coach Agesen and players Mulle and AG Nørgaard.
The "new" coach Krautmayer is less charismatic but he knows the current squad well as Agesen's assistant
over those past years. Besides, Jette Hansen and Camilla Herrem are excellent reinforcements for Holstebro.
As always, there are many questions on the quality of their defense. On the another hand, their offensive
game is now on the shoulders of playmaker Lærke Møller. Let's go Lærke ! :)

Behind those 3 clubs, the battle for the last 3 playoffs' spots will be close between 4 or even 5 clubs.
It's really hard to predict, my God ! :p

4th, HC Odense has actually an interesting team: Masson, an amazing LBs duo Adler/Haugsted and Maja Jakobsen
should give a good surplus in attack as RB.

5th, Randers seems to have a good squad with Greve, Dalby, and Monti Danielsson as the main new players.
But their playmaker Schumacher must play well if they wants to be in the top 6. And I expect that Mie Højlund
would get more playing time compared to the last season.

6th, Viborg lost many stars but they made clever transfers. They will have a better bench compared to last
season for sure. All the positions are now covered. With perhaps the exception of the GK position (the young
keeper Signe Brun is the only substitute for Rikke Poulsen). Of course, Skov and AG will be the natural leaders
of this team.

7th, Copenhagen Handball is a good mix of experienced and young players. They needed a RB, they signed Anne Cecilie
De la Cour. Good signing ! They have actually a good squad. If their playmakers' duo Rej/Sjølund are in good form
throughout the season, CPH can even qualify for the playoffs. But it will be difficult that's why I only predict a
7th spot.

8th, SK Aarhus lost Palsdottir (pivot) and Uno (playmaker). Big lost for them but they will have a very interesting
RBs' duo to follow: Mette Tranborg and Lærke Christensen. In addition, Okkels, Ohlendorff and Hjort are also good
back players.

9th, NFH. On paper, they signed a top coach Agesen and 4 very good or good players (Arenhart, Mulle, Gravholt and
Emelie Westberg). But they don't have enough good defenders. Besides, they have a small bench. But it should be enough
to save their spot in the Danish League sportively this time. Without benefiting on the financial problems from another
clubs...

10th, Silkeborg-Voel lost their two best players and best scorers of the League last season (Jette Hansen and Anne Cecilie
De la Cour). I think they will have a difficult season even if they signed with Trine Troelsen, or Freja Cohrt. A relegation
game is expected...

11th, Ringkøbing lost two major players for them: Brogaard and Anastacio (although I'm not a great fan of this Brazilian
player). Playmaker Cecilie Mørch Hansen is back in DK from Norway. It should be a good signing. But as for Silkeborg,
a relegation game is expected too.

12th, SønderjyskE as the promoted team is always in danger of a direct relegation into the 1st Division. Unfortunately,
Camilla Nissen (their best player) decided to take a pause from handball. They signed some players like Baunsgaard or
Madsen (from Esbjerg) who didn't have much playing time. Is it enough to save a spot in the elite ? I expect a very
difficult season for this club.

In conclusion, the battle for the top 6 will be close and very interesting to follow between so many teams. In contrario,
the battle for avoiding the relegation shouldn't have any suspense as 3 clubs will be only concerned (with one club which
will have high risks for a direct relegation).

Please, just notice it's only my opinion. Of course, I can be wrong and other people can have different opinions. Feel
free to express your own opinion. :) It's always fun to discover how wrong will be your own predictions at the end of
the regular season.

I think that the first and second place will for sure be between FCM and Esbjerg, but the rest of the league is going to be close. So just guessing

1) FC Midtjylland
2) Team Esbjerg
3) Randers HK
4) Team Tvis Holstebro
5) HC Odense
6) Copenhagen Handball
7) Viborg HK
8) NFH
9) Silkeborg/Voel
10) SK Århus
11) Ringkjøbing
12) SønderjyskE

It is very hard to predict, the middle field from 3- 10, I think anything can happen =D>

@heavenly, nice prediction :) I'd probably switch CPH and Viborg around so CPH on 6th spot. Don't think they'll make the same mistake and miss out on play offs again, especially now that they have another shooter. I think they can make it even higher up too (to 3rd spot) if all turns out in their favourite.

I'm not sure about TTH on 3rd spot. Perhaps I should make a really bad prediction for them, since it seemed to work like a charm last season :D ;) But hoping not to jinx them, I believe that if they play up to their best, they belong in top 3 [-o<

Yes masch, I also would like to see CPH in the top 6. :) Sjølund, La Cour, AM Pedersen and
Ronja Johansen are the 4 players I really appreciate. I wish them a great season without any
injuries.

But I fear Viborg experienced players like Skov, AG, Seglem or Bognar will make the difference.

We'll see ! Let's hope for CPH together (you masch and me). :)

Hm, yes if Skov continues on the same level she was on last season it will be a challenge, on the other hand la Cour as second topscorer and perhaps the best distance shooter in Danish league should be a garanty for many goals. Maybe the gk duel will be decisive, then I suppose Viborg has an advantage in Poulsen :-k

Some interviews before the Super Cup match tomorrow:
http://www.fcm-haandbold.dk/ndefault.asp?id=9048 (Stine Jørgensen)
http://www.fcm-haandbold.dk/ndefault.asp?id=9047 (Ana Vojcic)
http://www.fcm-haandbold.dk/ndefault.asp?id=9045 (Lotte Grigel & Sabina Jacobsen)
http://www.fcm-haandbold.dk/ndefault.asp?id=9046 (Jane Mejlvang)

http://www.teamesbjerg.dk/nyheder/dm-re ... nes-styrke
(Lars Frederiksen, Esbjerg's coach)

Esbjerg played 5 friendlies matches: 4 victories (the most prestigious was against Larvik)
for 1 defeat (against Copenhagen Handball)

As far as I know, FCM only played two friendlies matches against Glassverket (2 close
victories for the Danish club). The big question for me is: Will Louise Burgaard be ready to
play tomorrow ? It seems she had a physical problem but I don't know what...

So the serious things are coming tomorrow for FCM (the Danish Champion) and Team Esbjerg
(the vice-champion). The first trophee will be distributed. Esbjerg wants to get their
revenge, FCM wants to keep their title !

This new season will be very exciting to follow. I hope Mixball has still the time and
the courage to offer us his recordings of the matches throughout the 2015-2016 season.
Thanks in advance !

By the way, very bad news for Randers. Their new right winger Astrid Schultz has a serious
knee injury. Her season is already over unfortunately. Furthermore, Gitte Andersen (the other
RHK RW) is not ready to play (probably out until the beginning of 2016). So I guess Randers
must recruit a new RW rapidly...

Team Esbjerg won their 1st title ever after beating FCM 27-19 in the Super Cup
Match yesterday. Gallery photos here: http://www.jv.dk/artikel/2089772:Sport- ... idtjylland

Physically stronger, Esbjerg players totally controlled the entire match. One confirmation:
they have strong back shooters with their 2 new players (Jenny Alm and Betina Riegelhuth).

Concerning FCM, it's clear the defending Danish champion is not ready yet. Furthermore,
their 2 new players are already struggling with injuries: Veronica Kristiansen (shoulder)
and Louise Burgaard (Achilles tendon). I really hope both players will be ready to play
at 100% of their possibilities soon. [-o<
Besides, I just want to congratulate the 2 junior FCM players (Pauline Bøgelund and Simone
Petersen) who fought bravely yesterday.

The only positive thing in that match. European Championship clearly boosted their confidence, it was fun to see :D

Well, my recording device suffered a severe injury (I know realize) during the QF's of last season, so I recon I must indulge myself into the transfer market. #-o
It might take a while though. :?

Still a little puzzled (in a good way) about the first league match yesterday. CPH was clearly blown away in first half and Aarhus defence surely know how to kick ass. The way Fangel described herself is 80 kilos of raw evil :D They made CPH look like confused schoolgirls and their FB play was surprisingly good too. Okkels a force in her own right. Also Juncker in goal was great, although CPH and especially la Cour also did theirs to heighten the percentage with bad shooting. Juncker had really good passes up the court too. Several interesting young players in Aarhus, beside Juncker, Emma Mogensen and Camilla Fangel and ofc Ohlendorff also stood out. Hjort seems to fit much better in Aarhus than in TTH too. Lærke Christensen scored her first league goal, congrats :)

Reading their comments on social media before the match, It seems a little like CPH was busy looking forward to a big party while Aarhus was focused on winning.
There are few positives to mention on behalf of CPH, Holmsgaard did a good match but also one or two bad decisions and Rej with some good shots. A shame cause there was a nice turn up of spectators by CPH standards.

This will be a season with many surprises, it's gonna be exciting :)

Perhaps. Or perhaps CPH will start another season off horribly so they'll just manage to miss out on the finals once again.

I really hope CPH won't repeat previous seasons start though, we all love James Bond, but no one wants a 0 0 7 score. :p

I'm not just speaking of CPH but the league in general. and I don't think CPH will make the same mistake. They came back in the end but were not able to equalize in the last seconds. I think they'll show up with a different attitude for next match.

Nothing worked for TTH yesterday. After this big defeat, Krautmeyer explained
that his players were too much nervous: https://hbold.dk/nyheder/tth_maaske_var_det_nerver/
Or they were in "café latte" mode like Copenhagen against Aarhus. LOL Mixball. :p
Of course, it was only the first match and TTH can play much better ! It's too
early to qualify Holstebro as a weak team like some people wrote in the chatroom...

Concerning Viborg, it was a good debut. AG and Skov confirmed that they're still top
players despite their "old" ages. Besides, French right back Gnabouyou is a very good signing.
More important thing ! VHK has a better bench compared to last season. In fact, they
have a squad to finish in the top 6. I'm optimistic for them...

Haha yeah didn't know they were so crazy about cafe latte too in Holstebro ;) they sure looked nervous, pretty much everyone except Lærke underperformed (and she's also played better matches than in second half). In a way that's sort of a comfort, knowing all of them can play better than this. I'm worried about defense though, hope they can up their level alot.

Viborg played nice but they also had horribly easy Working conditions. Nice to see that Skov continuing her her high level from last season but other than that I found their play (as well as TTH's yesterday) quite slow and boring. Well maybe that's just me. I was quite dissappointed about the match and to my surprise found CPH-SK Aarhus much more exciting.

By the way, on the most recent photo on Burgards insta she doesn't look too badly injured, doing acrobatics. Hope for FCM that she can play tomorrow.

That comment can only come from fans with teams in no league or joke league. Teams playing +30 domestic + EC matches a season and in continuous rebuilding is nowhere at any level at this stage. :-"

Viborg can be very good. They have good middle back Bognar.Veronika Kristinasen is not middle back, she is left back, she showed on EHF Euro 2014 how strong she can be and she wioo be main player in the Midtjylland.Esbjerg will use Polman as middle back in the first team, because she is better than Grigel and left back will be Alm,Betina also is exellent.Groot wasn't so good last season, she didn't has so good shoot,so Midtjylland will not need her so much,Midtjylland will need Jorgensen, she ithe best right n
back now after Katarina Bulatovic and Nora Mork.
