Re: EHF-Cup 2017/2018
Most (top 7?) countries would get +1 entry for one of their teams in the EHF-Cup - if they apply for one. Apparently there are enough positions avaliable.
I am not 100% familiar with how the Romanian league ended, but a quick look at the table suggests Roman finished fifth at the end of the season, which suggests that they were the first team who could apply for one.
In Germany Blomberg (finishing ninth) also got a wildcard for next seasons EHF-Cup, after Oldenburg, Dortmund, Leipzig and Leverkusen all declined.

@HB9
I was astonished because they applied, not because they got it. Currently the team isn't going very good. A lot of players left. But hey, who am I to judge them?
By the way, Brasov also applied, but I guess EHF is taking into consideration the rankings.

Re: EHF-Cup 2017/2018
How come that Byåsen starts in Qualification round 1, and Tertnes starts in Qualification round 2?
- Byåsen had better placement last year regular season (Byåsen number 4, Tertnes number 6.)
- Byåsen went to semis in Norwegian championship playoff 'sluttspill' after knocked out Tertnes in quarter finals.
- Byåsen did well last year in EHF Cup group phase, while Tertnes was knocked out before the group phase. (Byåsen knocked out Tertnes there too)
...Still Tertnes passes first round and Byåsen not?

How did both teams do in the Norwegian cup? It seems teams are better seeded when they won or did well in this national cup competition.

Tertnes reached the cup finale, so it seems thats the reason. Thanks

Re: EHF-Cup 2017/2018
Qualifying Round 1 starts next weekend and it is unlikely that there will be many suprises, as most (all) of the favourites should make it through.
So far only one stream is known:
HSG Blomberg-Lippe - HandBal Sint-Truiden: http://www.ehftv.com/int/livestream/hsg ... nt-truiden

Also, I am slightly disapointed that none of you posted the link for this stream here - supposedly it was broadcast on roman24. Even I knew that...

Both games of Byasen vs. Kram Start Elblag are on http://www.handballtv.com this weekend. You have to search for it yourself, because this new "mobile friendly" handballtv.com seemingly makes it impossible to get the direct url for each game. ](./images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif)

Re: EHF-Cup 2017/2018
IF I well understood the second match also take place in Roman (city) on 09.09.2017 on 17 hour final result Grude _Roman 19-42 . The only interesting thing is that a junior Grude player scored 16 goals against Roman (both matches) ...

In short:
A strong local company found some money for handball.
A new Azeri women's league was created, Mingechavir steps in to be one of the competitors.
But there's no players' base at all in AZE => recruiting some 'second an lower-class' Russian players is the easiest way how to create your team with some decent level.
More details about the recent happening in the Azerbaijan women's handball here (in Slovak, have to use translation):
http://whandball.com/clanok/179-polo-domaci-triumf
EDIT: Azeryol (former ABU) Baku should be even stronger team, they will compete in the Challenge Cup

I guess they aren't that ambitious when they give away their home game to Viborg.
One of the most ridicouls rules in handball is that this is made possible in the first place. Either take part in this competition with all the good and bad things, or don't take part at all!
