^ Probably something to do with the recent almost-split between North and South. Bizzarely, Africa has 3 spots, despite Angola ranking behind Brazil at the last WCh.
One spot is reserved as a wild card and given the recent moves in the USA [1,2], probably there will be a Repechage tournament where the Americans will be invited.

There will have a North American and Caribbean Championships (NORCA) in next May, this competition will give to the winner 1 directly spot to the 2019 World Championship of Japan. It will be hosted by USA and their players are doing a internet campaign to raise the money to cover competition expenses. The players from national team of USA are doing lives transmissions talking about their careers, handball and how important is to take back to USA an international woman handball competition again, because the last one was 20 years ago.

Chile took the lead in the beginning and held it til the end. Uruguay had big problems in attack throughout the match.
Paraguay had so many chances, including a penalty to equalise and a 2 mins suspension. Argentina is far from being the clear 2nd spot and would've been any surprise if yesterday the outcome would've been different. Paraguay made clear progress since last year and are faster and more correct in their runs on and off-ball in attack, but are missing so many 1-1 shots.

Brazil will win this easily. Argentina is far from their level. But the battle for the 2nd spot is wide open and all matches not involving Brazil should be pretty open.

Thank you for clearing that up! Something seemed off. Let's see what team Cuba will turn out with for the NorCa. If they bring their A team, they'll be hard to stop. Otherwise, it should be pretty even between USA, Canada, Dominican R., Puerto Rico.

Brazil played really well in which the main challenge was simply to stay focused and respect your game plan. Sometimes these matches against much weaker opposition can be annoying, if you don't set yourself a clear goal. Well done to them!

Also interesting that Paraguay won so clearly this match. If Argentina end up losing one match, Paraguay might just finish second.

Cuba are not dominant in their region anymore. Despite having their currently top (professional) players available, they ranked only 3rd at the 2018 Central American & Caribbean Games, losing to both finalists Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico during the tournament.

I’m really agree with you about the evolution of Paraguay, if I’m not wrong, last year they won in the groupe stage against Argentina during the Panamerican Championship, in that moment it was a big surprise to everyone. About this competition they really had the opportunity to win the game, but they didn’t have luck. Another important point is that they could not count with one of their best players (Sabrina Fiori, she is a Line player, she was one of the top scores of the last world championship), she plays in Brazil, and her team has a important game for the National League this week, because that her club didn’t give to her the liberation for the national competition.
