The World Championship would be expanded from 24 teams to 32 teams.

Winner of the tournament qualifies for the 2023 World Championship.

The minimum age of 16 is required for the participation; a player eligible to participate have to turn 16 years on the day of her first match at the latest.

I have read somewhere that each participating team can now bring 18 players to the bench instead of the current 16. Anyone knows whether this is true?

■ 1 team: highest ranked Oceanian team at the 2020 Women's Asian Championship (preliminarily scheduled for 20-30 Nov 2020, hosts t.b.a.)

■ 4 teams: best four teams at the 2020 Women's EURO (scheduled for 3-20 Dec 2020 in Norway/Denmark), excluding Netherlands and Spain.

■ 10 teams: successfull teams from the European qualification, Phase 2 [play-offs] (scheduled for 16-21 Apr 2021)

■ 4 teams: top four (ranked 1st-4th) teams at the 2021 Women's African Nations Cup (scheduled for 11-20 Jun 2021 in Yaoundé, Cameroun)

■ 3 teams: top three (ranked 1st-3rd) teams at the 2020 or 2021 Women's South & Central American Championship (dates and hosts t.b.a.)

■ 1 team: winner of the 2020 or 2021 Women's North American & Caribbean Championship (dates and hosts t.b.a.)

■ 1 team: IHF wildcard
