I agree it is hard to believe to qualify from that group (Flensburg, Barcelona, Kolding and Wisla are better).

But I still believe that they "chose" to play in the EHF Cup last year (and I believe they will do the same this year - one clue is that they refused to organize the qualifications, after Besiktas declined).
I've seen the game against Porto and I've also seen how they chose to play the capital moments (including the last attack at 19:19) and the interviews after the game. They were very eloquent, in my opinion.
And they have good reasons for that choice - to play in the EHCCL would have meant
- always playing at Buzau and Bucharest instead of Constanta,
- more financial difficulties (which were evident anyway in the second part of the year) and
- last, but not least, a very tough group with Kiel, Kielce, Kolding, Wisla Plock, Dunkerque, where they would have had no chance.
So, it was a "rational" choince (in my opinion), and one that proved to be fruitful.

Of course, I may be wrong, it is just a guess.

Choosing ehf cup instead of cl means to choose standing in the same place instead of develop.
That would be a bad decision.

Szeged won the ehf cup and they hardly have any chance to win cl as well but i'd be disappointed if they would choose to miss cl.

I saw Kolding and Wisla to play good and bad as well last season. They should at least try to get close to them or beat them.

So cl is the right answer.

Do not get me wrong - I would be also very disappointed if they play EHF Cup.

Last year, there were important arguments to play in the EHF Cup. Besides what I mentioned above, it was extremely frustrating to play in Bucharest or Buzau with very few spectators, even when big teams like Kiel or Atletico Madrid were coming.

This year, I believe it is a little different : they made it to the EHF Final 4 last year, they got confidence, they should at least try the next level.

I agree, the group is difficult, however...they proved what they had to prove in the EHF Cup and, more than this, they regained the audience in Constanta. The transfers look decent: Humet and Kedzo vs. Criciotoiu, Rakcevic vs. Novanc, Bogunovic vs. Csepreghi indicate that the team should not be weaker than last year (it appears that may be one more transfer to cover the loss of Csepreghi).

Concerning HCM Constanta, I would just like to add that they seem to be in serious financial trouble.
Most of the players have not been paid for the last four months, and the departure to Zlatibor, to prepare the new season, has been cancelled.
This could be the end of the team, if the local authorities/sponsors do not "inject" urgently some money.
It would be very sad to witness the end of this team, especially after last year's remarkable performance.

It appears Alexandru Simicu (HCM Constanta) has signed a contract with Hamburg for the year 2014-2015.
He will then (2015) join Saint Raphael, together with Mihai Popescu (HCM Constanta).

Young right wing Victor Alonso also in Romania, at Știința Bacău, he was very solid in his last Asobal season.

They survive. They just got money after winning the Supercup.

Yes, they survived!

Probably the local authorities were impressed by their great performance in the Supercup against Stiinta Bacau and by the character of these guys, who, despite not being paid for 6 months, won both Championship and Cup, qualified for EHF Final 4 and stayed till the end, even if they had offers from other teams...

I would equally add the terrible conditions they had to face during this summer (all tournaments cancelled, just one friendly game - 3-4 days before the Supercup etc.)

Humet and Angelovski are back.Popescu and Cristescu are also recovering, so...all seems fine.
However, they seem to have lost Bogunovic and Kedzo.

CSM Bucharest signed the 28-year old Swedish right back, ex-Alingsas. He scored 3 goals against Flensburg in December, probably he is useful. I guess he did not acommodate in Slovenia where he only stayed some weeks.

This season our league is strong, with 11 teams from 13 being very solid but unfortunately none is anymore like HCM Constanza. So I guess the European results will be average at maximum, though more transfers will come.

I am so happy to see our best player ElAhmar moving to such a big team in Europe. He clearly deserves it.

Not sure where to put this, but an international tournament will take place in Kraków, between April 1-3. The line-up: Poland, Brazil, Tunisia, Romania.

In more news, ex-German NT player Dragoș Oprea has informally accepted to play for the Romanian NT (he's Romanian born and raised). He sent his papers to the Romanian Federation and they hope to have him available for the Euro 2018 decisive qualifiers against Italy in June. Apparently he doesn't have the Romanian citizenship anymore and needs to apply for it.
