Re: Egyptian Handball
Was Egyptian handball affected at all by the Arab Spring? Honest question. Things like this usually either crush national teams (f.x. Soviets, Romanians,) or strengthen them.

It shall have a good effect on everything here not only Handball but just not now. things are not stable here yet all over the country. we don't have a proper league in the last 2 seasons and that harmed our national team so bad because most of the players play in the local league. we couldn't qualify to the olympic games for the first time after 5 appearances in a row (92-96-2000-2004-2008) , we finished 3rd in the African championship for the first time since 2002. we always finish 1st or 2nd so I would consider that failure despite of qualifying to the world championship in Spain.
Re: Egyptian Handball
Egypt U21 qualified to World Junior Championship in Bosnia 2013 after finishing 3rd in the African Championship. It seems like a disaster because our only loss was VS Congo!!!! but there are many doubts concerning the congolese players' age but its ok qualifying to world championship was the main target.

Re: Egyptian Handball
What's happening with Algeria? Their senior team seems to be making big progress, while their junior and youth teams have been finishing very low for the last African Championships. I thought their force resided a little in good youth players.
Re: Egyptian Handball
First of all, thanks for bringing news from your continent. It is impossible to find otherwise, IHF site is a JOKE!!
I see that there are doubts about the age of Congo players age, but are they a up and coming handball nation? Also strange to see Nigeria not able to qualifty, because they have very good youth teams is Partille Cup in Sweden.
Please keep news coming
You have the results for the championship?

I noticed that too. Angola will probably be a big threat for Algeria in the future. Angola is improving and they qualified to both Junior and youth Championships

Nigeria didn't even participate I dunno why. and I don't think Congo is the team that is gonna cause troubles to the best three teams in Africa Tunisia , Egypt and Algeria. The country I really admire now would be Angola. they are improving and I think they are jealous of the achievements of their women team.
Egypt loss vs Congo is the first loss for Egypt to an African team (Apart from Tunisia and Algeria) at any level since 1983. and even Algeria we lost to them only twice in the last 20 years at all levels. The only team I could digest a loss to them in Africa would be Tunisia. Although Egypt is better than Tunisia at World , Olympic , Youth , Junior and club levels but Tunisia has a very good record winning the African Championship 9 times while Egypt won it only 5 times ( there is a story behind that though). so I think we are Equal and nothing shameful losing to them

I am so disappointed too because this team has won the gold medal at Youth olympics in 2010 and they finished 5th at world youth championship in Argentina 2011. they are supposed to be better than Congo's senior team even!
but anyways qualifying to World Junior championship was the main target. we have won the African junior championship 10 times already. and the closest country is Tunisia winning it only 3 times
Re: Egyptian Handball
How Egypt will prepare for World Championship, which tournament they will play and games for preparation?

nothing clear yet. we got a new president for our Handball Federation. last thing I heard of we will play a friendly tournament in Tunisia.
all the Arab countries that will Participate in Spain 2013 (except for Algeria) will be in this tournament.
Egypt , Tunisia , Qatar and Saudi Arabia. it should be in November.
Re: Egyptian Handball
These days we are having the Arab Club Handball Championship. the 29th edition it is held in Berkane , Morocco. 17 teams participated in this year's tournament.

Kuwait SC has got the Egyptian Star Ahmed Al Ahmar on loan for this tournament. while Al Wehda from Saudi Arabia has two of the best players in Africa in their team ( on loan too) Wael Jallouz from Tunisia he is simply the best right back in Africa and there are rumours in the Tunisian media that he is going to play in Bundesliga next year . he is only 21 and won the African championship with Tunisia national team and was a part of the Tunisian team that finished 3rd in the last Junior world Championship. plus he was the top scorer in the last super globe. Al Wehda also has an Algerian international Messaoud Berkous 23 year old the best left back in Africa.
The other two teams Al Ahly and Club Africain are full of international players from Tunisia and Egypt.

Re: Egyptian Handball
I know Iran is not in Africa, but Veszprém's new Iranian left back Iman Jamali seems to be a top contender for the next big thing coming from the Muslim world. The guy has an amazing shot, and although he still has a lot to learn he's a huge talent.

yep he is a good player I know him , but in my opinion there are better players in Tunisia ,Algeria and Egypt. the Tunisian Wael Jallouz has already signed for Kiel and seriously there are many players in North Africa that are as good as Jallouz.
