2019 Women's U19 ECh (Hungary)

Postby Gojira » Mon Feb 25, 2019 8:01 pm

It seems that there is no such topic yet.

Tomorrow will be the draw: http://www.eurohandball.com/article/32153

The pots:

Pot 1
Germany
Norway
Hungary
France

Pot 2
Russia
Denmark
Romania
Spain

Pot 3
Sweden
Netherlands
Montenegro
Slovakia

Pot 4
Croatia
Austria
Portugal
Slovenia

Though I know that EHF took into account only the results of previous ECh's, it still looks stupid to put the reigning world champion into Pot 2. Moreover, the result of the 2017 U19 ECh has absolutely no relevance here.

The Danish Squad for the upcoming matches before the championship and I often complain about the selection of our youth NT coaches. This is certainly no exception. This is a very good team but when you take this season's performances into account, you have a few players that simply shouldn't be overlooked.

How Maria Holm from Horsens hasn't found her way to the final squad is beyond me. She has been THE outstanding performer all season in the youth level. She has been absolutely bombing the opponents down at a level we haven't seen since Louise Ellebæk did the same for FCM. And then at a position like right back. Tuborg might just have missed the entire season for Horsens because she has been outstanding.

He has only brought one right back - Clara Thomsen - but I think a player in the same city as Clara could've been great as well. Alberte Madsen has been phenemonal for Odense, and I didn't like her selection a few years ago where she also didn't contribute at the championship but she has developed incredibly well and is just top-level dedicated to being the best. She carried Odense to a DM-final where her performance almost saw them beat HIH.

Frederikke Hedegaard not being in the squad is also very questionable.

In the section of the things I love. Sofie Schelde being in the squad. Might be the playmaker with the most talent in the squad. I hope her being a "late bloomer" doesn't make Tuborg shy away from giving her playing time because she could be our breakout player in this tournament. She can do some spectacular things. Theresa Durck being back on the National Team after over a year absence. I'm looking forward to seeing her with the best of the best again.

Denmark u19 30 - 25 Japan senior NT.

Japan looked like a very cohesive team but simply couldn't do anything against the likes of players like Steffensen, Wierzba etc. One thing that will for sure be repeated over and over during the summer is how good Anna Kristensen is. She looked more than comfortable saving the shots from the senior players as she has done all season in Skanderborg.

Very good preview for the championship. The Danish players look ready at this point.

There was an U19 tournament in Poland this weekend with Iceland, Poland, Russia and Slovakia. The results:

Friday: Russia-Slovakia 35:24, Poland-Iceland 24:17
Saturday: Russia-Iceland 33:14, Slovakia-Poland 20:20
Sunday: Iceland-Slovakia 28:26, Poland-Russia 26:26

1. Russia
2. Poland
3. Iceland
4. Slovakia

The level of refereeing was very low, the mistakes were curiously mostly in favour of the home team.

Russia are still very far from their form of last year. And I don't understand the match management of Sidoricheva  :-k ](*,)

My opinion here is totally different. It's usual. No matter what we (as fans) see in preparation games. Russians were even worse during the preparations last year, drawing CZE and losing 3 of 3 at a tournament in HUN. Sidoricheva knows really well what to do in this period of time. In my eyes she's the best youth coach in Russia by far.

I fear you have misunderstood me. I agree with you regarding Sidoricheva. Still I didn't quite understood the logic of her replacing players during the game. Most of them found themselves on the bench after two mistakes. Except for Maslova, who could make as many as she felt like. Maybe a little rest would have done her good, too.

And the lack of form was just taking note and not judgment :D

I don't know if this is supposed to be final - Germany: https://www.dhb.de/de/redaktionsbaum/na ... -portugal/

Aimée von Pereira, MVP of the championship two years ago, wasn't even selected and Julia Weise is just listed as reserve. ](*,)

Nine months ago: 20 rising stars to watch for the future, http://www.eurohandball.com/article/31310

5. Julia Weise (18), Germany
The ever-reliable right wing missed just two shots at the Youth World Championship. Weise, who has international club experience with HC Leipzig, netted 30 goals at 94% accuracy, including 15/15 fast breaks and 10/12 from the wing.

13. Aimee Von Pereira (18), Germany

Aimee Von Pereira made a name for herself at the Women’s 17 EHF EURO 2017, when she was awarded MVP of the continental championship, won by Germany. The back had a strong World Championship campaign in Poland, playing a key role in Germany’s defence, scoring 39 goals, and converting 18 penalties.[/b]
idle banter.

Romanian final squad
GK: Andreea Chetraru, Diana Ciucă, Ioana Ugran
LW: Eva Kerekes, Roberta Stamin
LB: Patricia Moraru, Ioana Bălăceanu
CB: Monica Barabaş, Andreea Popa, Denisa Vâlcan
RB: Miruna Pica, Adina Cace
RW: Andra Moroianu, Alexandra Vrabie
LP: Sarah Darie, Ştefania Jipa, Diana Şamanţ

Bold players are the ones you could keep an eye on.

2 key players are injured: Andreea Târșoagă (LB), Marina Ilie (LW), both with great skills, hope they'll be back soon.

Romania will host 2020 Women's U20 WCh next summer and I hope for a good result there. Now, looking back to last months, I expect they will finish around 9-12th place in Hungary.
L. Hutupan-Dinu, V. Ardean-Elisei, Cristina Neagu, O. Manea, I. Stanca, M. Jovanovic, Y. Ozel, R. Maier.

Tough opening for Denmark and it certainly made me question Tuborg's selection a bit more. Having only Clara Thomsen on the right back as a natural choice is just not enough. I like when Elsberg plays there but then they just have to rotate a lot more than they do because she is not much of a threat from the right back position.

Maria Holm would have been amazing to have on this team as an attacking threat - especially with no Cecilie Bjerre who is the best Danish player in attack in this generation.

We already have ROU in Top 8.

Factically, we have to add now, and that's new, that the top 11 teams (w/ ROU included) at this tournament go to the 2020 Junior U20 WCh in Romania. But the team placed 12th should also have real chance due-to, as usual, expected future withdrawal of Oceania.
